@winniebee: Yep! He is generally a great eater (even sick). This time would be a bad example but normally. We have been going down hill weight wise since late April/early May. However his weight has been a constant struggle.

Are you sure the weight loss isn't just from being sick? My LO loses while sick but then makes up for it after.

@MamaMoose: I am noticing those and other things like watermelon too.
@Rocker2014: He doesn't have celiac disease that we have confirmed. I have been gluten free for over a year because I have a gluten intolerance. His doctor and I have discussed referring him to a GI doctor. His poor weight gain and now weight loss have us pretty concerned. His paternal grandmother also had Crohn's disease (she passed away from problems of the disease)

Is he gluten free because of Celiac Disease? Undigested food in poop is a definite sign of a celiac flare up. (My younger brother and I both have Celiac). Even when I'm as careful as possible, I still get "glutened" occasionally - could that be happening with N?
Good luck!!

@MrsRcCar: I notice this with certain foods (blueberries, Lima beans and mandarin oranges come to mind). Other friends have noticed seeing it as well. And my LO has always consistently gained weight. In fact from 15 months to 18 months she jumped from 40th% to 60th% so I don't think the poop issues are concerning.

@Mrs Green Grass: Nope. N has to be gluten and dairy free. Although he does seem to like coconut milk.

Dylan's poop is chunky sometimes, not always... We are doing iron supplements too. Does your LO eat dairy? I add while milk powder to whole milk which helps us a lot!

@sunny: Glad to know that we aren't alone. I have been so stressed out about his weight and being sick really doesn't help.

We have noticed the same poop issues with our LO as well, who is near the bottom of the growth charts for weight. Our pedi has never thought anything was wrong, but she also has never lost weight between appointments. She just gains weight very slowly. I struggle between trying not to worry too much and wondering if I'm worrying enough about her low weight!!!

We just got back from the doctor with N. He has been running a fever and vomitted this morning. The doctor thinks he just has a tummy virus.

However when we were there we found out that he has lost 1 pound in the course of a month and a half. We suspected that he was losing weight for a while now. They want us to come back in a month to recheck his weight and iron (it has been low all the while).

Now on the TMI side: When he has a BM I have noticed things aren't really broken down. A lot of his solid food looks the same going in as it does coming out. I chalked it up to him not chewing well but now I am wondering if his body is failing to break down his food properly. We have always struggled to get weight on him and keep it there.

Has anyone ever been there? Have any suggestions? want to send some love?
