@red_seattle: Yay! We did the same with low key EC at an early age and a flight around 16 months. I can't remember what we did! I think we just put her in a diaper since the flight was 10+ hours. But we followed the regular potty routine so we were not dependent on the diaper. It was just back up. LO had been going to the potty for some time before that though.

@red_seattle: Best I could find were these, the brand we used was One Step Ahead, ordered direct from their site, but who knows who owns them now. You're basically looking for a training pant that has PUL sandwiched between 2 layers of fabric.

You can also put underwear on under the pull up. That way she will still feel the wetness if she has an accident but it will be contained.

The only thing I would add is to bring a chux pad to put on the seat, in case for example, the seat belt light is on and you really can't get up while flying.

Also, have you seen those underwear that have PUL sandwiched between two layers of fabric? We used them as first underwear and they were great.

My DD also potty trained at 15 months. We kept her in pull ups when we went out until *we* were comfortable that she wouldn't have any accidents while we were out. She never did. Keep your potty routine similar and take her potty often. Don't sweat it if you feel like you need to put her in a pull up for your own peace of mind.

We've been doing part time, super low key elimination communication, and my 15 month old has decided it's time to ditch diapers. (I know! Don't hate me. We followed the same process with my son and he wasn't at this point until 20 months!) She's gone 4 days w/o any accidents at home. In fact, she hasn't had any since we started going full time diaper free on Monday. We haven't ventured out yet, but she is doing great! The problem: we're flying in 2 weeks for a 4 day trip. (If I had my way, we would've done this after, but this has entirely been her call.) Any advice for traveling with a 15 month old newly potty trained kiddo? Anyone else crazy enough to have done this before?

I would love to try EC but LO almost always goes while eating... so I'm not sure how that would work since I EBF!

I was so shocked when I went to China and all the babies have split pants and just go wherever. Someone came over and mopped up baby pee at the airport by us when we left, ha.

We EC'd with DS from 2 months on. He's been on a major potty pause lately, but used to only go on the potty and always have dry diapers. It has been a great experience! We are just stepping back and waiting for his cues.

@HabesBabe: Personally, we practiced EC with both of our kids and the only times we've not used the toilet/potty are in the rare occasion we're out somewhere a toilet is not available (e.g. camping, hiking, driving rural stretches of road, etc...). I'm sure some parents do allow their kids to go anywhere, but I think it's the exception for EC parents, not the rule.

I have no problem with it if it's done in the privacy of your own home, or at the homes of those who are OK with it. But having your kid piss/crap on the street, sitting on a potty in a restaurant, holding them as they go on the grass at a park-- I'm sorry, but that's crossing the line.

I don't think there's anything lunatic about it, but I'm not sure it's for us (especially the part about letting them go outside). I'm going to start using th concept, ethough, sort of--E has taken to pooping in the tub (5x in the past two weeks). He never really given any "I'm going" signs, but I've noticed in the tub he'll sit very still and look down, grunt a little bit, and crawl away, and then there's poop. I never manage to catch him in time to pull him out, but I'm hoping I can start to get him over the toilet.

I think this is, honestly, how we're going to potty train C. We're just going to diaperless.

However, if a friend brought a bowl to my house and then let her baby go in it in a corner instead of just going to the bathroom.... I cant say that friend would be coming to my house for any more parties.

DD is just shy of 29m and we've sort of started. When DD asks to sit on the potty we will put here there but have yet to have any successes at home. Yesterday she started in a new room at daycare where they will work on PT more and she actually had 2 successes so we are hopeful that it will come when she is ready. I'm due in about 2 1/2 weeks so we aren't pushing her too much at the moment; we'll probably focus more when she is closer to 3 if she hasn't gotten it figured out by then.

We've practiced sitting on the potty around 15 or 16 months, no pressure. Weirdly, he would poop but not usually pee. Sometimes he doesn't want to sit there at all.

But my maternity leave starts in two weeks so I am thinking about going whole hog then. My toddler is now 20 months old. I figure it's worth a try although when the new baby comes in October it's possible we'll have some regression.

We have been sitting on the potty since about 9 months old. At 15 months old we really started on training more vigorously. He potties at least once a day if not twice. Daycare lets him sit on the potty and he runs around naked most of the day. But he hasn't had success there. He is really interested in the training pants and underwear and likes to try putting on his clothes.

@mrs. wagon: oh my how awesome!!! i can't wait for that day.

It's still a work in progress for us. We started when my son was shy of his 2nd birthday. so 23 months. 2 months later and he's still not fully potty trained.
