DDs allergy is to egg whites. The only thing we don't let her have is scrambled or however you would cook it on the stove top. I do separate out the yolk and just cook that for dippy eggs. The only thing she has reacted to is fresh pasta, it was actually a frozen fresh egg noodles. I know I wasn't thinking when I got them! But we allow everything else and she has no reaction. And she has no reaction to hard boiled.

Pancakes and crepes have a LOT of egg and a very short coom time. To me that suggests you're likely to be fine with anything that isn't just egg. Definitely I'd go for pasta, which has a low egg volume. And donuts are cooked as well as pancakes.

My daughter vomited with straight eggs (hard boiled) around age 8mos. We haven't tried again since there was a several hour delay with her second episode of vomiting post-egg consumption, but she's had no problems with any other items with egg in them. We'll try this summer to reintroduce eggs when we can spend the day outside. She's 3yo. Hopefully she's grown out of it.

My dd has an egg allergy and she eats everything that contains eggs except for straight up scrambled eggs, Boiled eggs, fried eggs etc. she can handle very tiny bites of scrambled eggs in fried rice but she’s also only 2 and her I’ve number for egg is very low so hopefully she will outgrow it soon. Good luck. I hate the stress that food allergies cause for my family.

My daughter (2 1/2) is allergic to eggs. She's Ok eating little muffins store-bought where eggs are the 5th ingredients.

You mentioned that you daughter eats all those baked goods. Are they store-bought or homemade?

I have not tried any cookies with my daughter because I read that it has to be cooked for 30-35 min at 350F to cook the egg completely so a cookie to me is not long enough. Now, it might be that the quantities of eggs in it is not that much.

Is she is OK with a pound cake? that's high in egg.
I don't think there's really anything else to do than trying.
I unfortunately gave some mac and cheese (1 tiny tiny bite) to my daughter and it had 4 eggs in it (didn't even think eggs would be in a mac and cheese... but now I know it's more common that I think) and she vomited.
I would give small bites of food (one or two) and wait.
In the case of my daughter, it took her 3h to vomit ....

Good luck.

We usually let her have anything that isn't straight up eggs based on our allergist's recommendations. She gets hives with pure eggs (like scrambled eggs), but has never had a problem with anything else. She eats pasta often, but I'm not home making it and the pasta we use is egg free.

I found this website helpful:

https://www.foodallergyawareness.org/foodallergy/food_allergens-11/egg-28/

I usually go by if eggs are high in the ingredient list or not or if homemade if I'm using more than 2 eggs.

I'm sure it varies by person, but my LO's egg allergy (which presented as hives) didn't have any issue with doughnuts, pasta, baked goods, etc. It was just exposure to actual unmixed egg that did it.

Good Morning! Question for egg allergy moms- if you/your kiddo can tolerate baked eggs, what have you tried?

Back story- my 6 year old can tolerate baked eggs. We've taken it one step further (per Dr's recommendation) from cakes/muffins to cookies, pancakes, and even crepes. However, I'm unsure of things like pasta (boiled) or donuts (fried). I guess it's the cooking process that I'm unsure of. Anyone have any advice or experience with this? TIA!

We spend more money on food, but we also spend a lot less money on clothing, cleaning supplies (we make our own), and other household items so I think it evens out. We probably buy about 80% or more organic. I don't mind paying a couple extra dollars for (what we call) happy eggs. It just means I spend less in other areas.

I was considering buying organic eggs this weekend, but they were 3 dollars more expensive for less of them and I'm pretty sure the egg whites I eat are not organic. So since I eat only 1 whole egg a day and 3 egg whites, I figured it wouldn't make that much of a difference anyway.

With eggs I'm way more concerned about the chickens being pastured than I am about organic designation. Most organic eggs I see are still from grain-fed chickens. Grains are not a natural part of a chicken's diet. Chickens, like most birds, are foragers. They live off worms, bugs, seeds, grass etc. When they eat their natural diet, their eggs are much more nutritious (higher vitamin/mineral levels etc.) and do not cause inflammation like grain-fed chickens' eggs.

As has already been mentioned, "free range" is one of those food industry misnomers. The best way to find truly pastured eggs is to find a local source. I'm fortunate to have someone who raises his own hens and delivers the eggs right to my office.

If i'm not going to buy certified organic eggs, then i don't bother wasting my money on "free-range" eggs. Like what @yoursilverlining: said, free range doesn't necessarily mean that the chickens are roaming around like what's pictured on the carton, especially since they keep all the feed INSIDE the coop.

@daniellemybelle: My understanding is that with certified organic eggs, they can't inject the chickens with antibiotics, which they normally need to do for conventionally raised chickens.

My ex was a farmer and they had a chicken house on their farm. It wasn't maintained by their family and they had no part in it really, but rented out to a chicken farmer. It is the nastiest thing you ever saw!! When the eggs are harvest and come down the line any that got discarded were tossed in a 10 gallon bucket and sat there for days until it was full...think dozens of cracked stinky eggs. The flats of eggs sat out for extended periods of time before going in the walk-in fridge and the chickens were kept in small cages stacked all along the length of the barn. I want to vomit just thinking about it!

A little off topic, but...I grew up across the street from a semi-large chicken farm. When the chickens get loose outside they have to shoot them. They often load the chickens at night and onetime a stray bullet went through our house, into my bedroom and landed a few inches from where my head should have been. I was luckily downstairs having a sleepover.

ETA: I can't eat eggs. I find them so gross! I can do them baked in things, but they still freak me out. I also can rarely eat chicken. I just don't like it.

Ohhh my brother got a bunch of free range brown eggs fron a local farmer once and we found a bunch of partciually formed chicks in them! Horrified!

I honestly can't taste the difference, but I buy them for humane reasons. Or get them from my friends--raising chickens is oh so hip where I live!

Free range doesn't necessarily mean they're running around, living the good chicken life. Cage free could mean they're just crammed into one room instead of individual cages. It's frustrating that you have to research what all these labels mean.

I get organic free range chicken eggs mostly b/c I can. We get 1 dozen eggs from a local farmer each week for $3 per week. The chickens are able to roam free (for real!), and I love that we have a relationship with a local small-town farmer. The eggs actually taste *way* better than regular super market eggs -- even the ones marked as free-range and/or organic. My daughter eats an egg almost every morning for breakfast, so it makes me especially happy that she is eating a real egg and not some agri-business excuse for one.

I like to get eggs from our CSA because we can go and get them ourselves and can see and know what the living conditions are like for the animals. I was already beaten to the punch by previous posters stating that organic and free range doesn't necessarily mean that Mrs. McDonald is out feeding them every morning in her gingham apron and letting them out to frolic in the sun.

I prefer organic eggs. They taste so much better, and I've transitioned a lot of my everyday foods to organic. I have been doing so for the past year, and it doesn't even cross my mind how much non-organic eggs or milk cost. I try my best to buy from my local farmer's market, and it's $3 a dozen. I also buy from a co-op that sells farm fresh eggs for $3.50 a dozen.

I'm lucky enough that my mom has chickens & I get fresh, "happy" eggs from her! However, I agree with @yoursilverlining that even when buying organic / free-range it's hard to know what you are getting unfortunately. In fact, I believe organic just means fed organic feed, nothing about the conditions under which they are raised. My mom doesn't feed her chicken organic feed and the eggs are way better than grocery store organics! Maybe try to find a local chicken farmer that sells eggs? And if you have to buy a regular carton here or there, don't sweat it.
