@chopsuey: I found out the answer! So you can only pair two cameras with one parent unit, so if that is what you did, no problems! What I did was buy two cameras and two parent units so one parent unit's signal was messing with the other...so now I have to return one set and just buy a 2nd camera, and have the one parent unit scan between both toddler and baby rooms.

We bought a 2nd set of the Motorola digital camera 3.5" LCD screen - model MBP36. One for DS1's room and the other for DS2's room. Ever since we got the 2nd set, the first set shuts off by itself every so often OR has a hard time finding a signal. Anyone else have this issue? What did you do about it?

My husband and I don't watch tv so our toddler doesn't have tv background noise ...we watch maybe a movie every week when she's sleeping. As for DD -26 months-, we don't restrict too much and she has yet to beg for it. If we turn it on, it's specifically for her--an educational program like Sid the Science Kid, Team Umizoomi or Kailan. On average, up to an hour every other day. There are lots of things to do and purposeful tv is just one of the many.

@Meridian; Yes, that means no screen time for adults as well, at least when the kids are awake. I figure what's good for the goose is good for the gander (or should I say, what's good for the gosling is good for the geese?) and I find that it has been a nice thing for me to watch less tv. Though I've never been a big watcher anyway. You'll figure out something that works for you. There has been plenty of research done on the subject, if you are interested in seeking any of it out. I'd also be happy to share what I've read on the subject. It's interesting stuff. Ultimately, each family figures out what they want to do and how they want to do it.

@Meridian: I never loved most TV, but we were big movie fans. After the first 9 mos or so of LO's life, we cancelled our subscription to Netflix because we just weren't watching it anymore. (In the early months I would sometimes nurse while watching.) I kind of miss not being able to watch newer films and the one TV show I love, but there are other things to occupy my time now.

@Meridian: before lo came I wasn't working so I watched A LOT of tv. But I don't love lo watching tv, plus she's not even interested in it, so its usually off when she's awake. I still get to watch my shows before she wakes up (watching project runway now!), when she naps, and when she goes to bed at night.

Noelle loves her youtube videos, and she's learned a lot from them! Colors, shapes, numbers, fruits, objects... I gotta give youtube some of the credit! We also let her watch Dora the Explorer sometimes, and she's just now at 28-months really starting to enjoy it. She's an antsy creature like me, and can't sit still for screentime even when we want her to. She likes to multitask.

I admit, working from home I do partake in the electronic babysitter most days when I need a block of distraction free time or have a web meeting. Usually no more than an hour, and I try to it PBS or Little Einsteins. I love Daniel Tiger and Wild Kratts!

Lorelei is one and gets/has had no screen time whatever. This means any screens; phone, tablet, pc, television...

Ellie has no screen time of any kind during the week, and on the weekend she is limited to no more than two hours per day, but she has to "pay" with points she earns as part of our discipline program. Usually this translates into a maximum of three hours for the whole week. If we have to do a really long drive somewhere, say, to a therapy appointment, she might be allowed to watch something part of the way there in the car for "free," but this only applies to car trips that are longer than two hours. Any shorter and she does a great job entertaining herself by listening to music, talking to me and/or Eric, making faces at Lorelei, coloring, and playing. She loves to send notes to all the car passengers!

I let him watch a bit at 21 months. Usually just one 20-min episode of Thomas or Super Why each day, though there have been days when he's gotten a bit more when I've been sick. And I may give him a 5-min snippet of the baby channel while I prepare a meal; otherwise he is literally clinging to my leg like he hasn't eaten in a week.

I'm guilty of letting TV be a baby sitter. Mostly when I was on bed rest while pregnant or when he wakes up at 5am. I DVR a few shows so he only gets about 20 minutes a day. When I was pregnant it was much worse though :(

My little guy is two years old and we've come to a point where we give him a tv show or two a day. This mainly happens when I am trying to cook dinner OR my husband and I are trying to eat dinner in peace and our son doesn't want to eat his meal but won't leave us alone either. We turn on Elmo's world which gives us about 20 min to eat together.

Im not too worried because he doesn't throw a hissy fit if I don't give him TV but was just curious how others parents handle the whole TV/electronic thing.

For long car rides I just bring toys and sit in the back with her. She'll either play with a toy (usually I'll buy something new that she hasn't seen before) or we'll sing. She loves when I sing to her!
