I loved it. The only thing I regret was my mother's email to the rest of the family to stay away from my grandparents house that day because of our private wedding. Nice, mom. </p> <p>She made up for it by hosting a very nice backyard reception for us a few months later. I didn't have to plan a single thing which is what I wanted. If I could have gotten married at my reception I would have. However, I know my reception wouldn't have been as laid back and stress free if it was our wedding. The "ceremony" was not more than 5 minutes long, lol. It was perfect! My husband came on a fiancé visa, so we only had a limited amount of time to get married before his visa expired. A year later we had a very small ceremony in my home town, followed by lunch at a cute little restaurant owned by a family friend. It was fun! The big wedding was already in the works but it didn't make sense for me to move home to wait for the wedding in order to be with DH, so we had a small ceremony with all of our parents at the courthouse. </p>
