I did one of these (Rugged Maniac) last year with almost no training. It was fun and we definitely walked a good amount of it without any problems (and many others did, too). The obstacles were not really that bad and you can skip any that you don't feel comfortable with!

My advice would be, be careful. I had a friend break her ankle really badly thanks to a water hazard that didn't have enough water. She climbed over some sort of wall and jumped into water below, which hadn't been properly filled. She said a bunch of people got hurt at the same spot. And of course, you sign away your life when go to those things, so no matter what they do wrong, they're not responsible.

I did one about five years ago. I didn't train but it was so much fun. One of the hardest, most unexpected was jumping through a little window sized hole in a slab of wood about five feet high. There were some sandbags you could step on and since everyone had to go through the same hole, people just sorta helped lift each other up to get through it. Just be open to do anything and if you run as a team, build camaraderie . I was so nervous on the morning of bc I saw all these hard core people but it was such a fun experience.

Have you ever done a mud run or obstacle race before? We're about to sign up for one in early August and I haven't been working out much the past few months. The race website says you can walk around any obstacles you aren't comfortable with. Am I crazy to try it?

Any tips would be appreciated. How did you train? What were some of the obstacles in the race?

I have been know to take it easy during the TWW. This time I thought for sure we were out and ran 21 miles last week, I don't think you are going to hurt your chances by working out.

Yep! Our midwife & OB told us it's perfectly fine to keep up our normal workouts (my hubby & I hike and do workouts each day). A close friend of mine is still doing cross-fit at 13 weeks!

My doc said it was safe to exercise as long as I felt physcially comfortable/able throuh the entire pregnancy as long as it was something I was already doing, and not starting anyting new.

I TTCed for a year and would always cut back on exercise during the TWW. However, the month I was actually pregnant, I was so convinced that I wasn't, and I was hitting the gym every morning because the Clomid had made me bloat so much and nothing was fitting right. My perfectly healthy DD is 11 weeks old :)

Yup agree with everyone-- totally fine and definitely good. The only thing I would hesitate about would be hot yoga, or exercising in extremely hot weather, for that matter, and even that you probably could do in the TWW.

I kept my workouts the same! Moderate effort runs 4-7mi 4x week. It's only concerned if you are exercising enough to mess up your cycles

Totally safe and a good distraction. Even once you get your BFP, you can keep doing whatever exercises you were doing before you got pregnant.

I'm no Olympian, but I've been working out 3x/week, for about an hour each time (weights and cardio), and I work up quite a sweat. I know they say it's good to be fit and healthy before pregnancy, but I'm wondering what you all have heard/experienced about exercising during the TWW?

I find myself going easy (or maybe it's just an excuse to be lazy?) :) but I'm wondering if I'm just overthinking it, which I tend to do. Any thoughts?
