However there have been incidents of forward facing children breaking their legs when their feet fly forward/upward and hit the seat in front of them. I know someone who rear faced her children until they were over 3 years, and they figured out where to put their feet and never complained about being uncomfortable even when asked. </p> <p>DS is 20 months old and is in the 97% for height and weight. He already weighs 36 pounds. Our difficulty is being careful not to bump his head when we get him in and out of our sedans, but he still seems content. He either bends props his legs on the seat back, or puts them in a semi-indian style position.</p> <p>I almost flipped his seat around about a month ago when he was fighting me to get in and hit his head on the door frame. We were both tired and frustrated and it seemed like the easy answer. But he is SO MUCH SAFER rear facing, that I talked myself out of it. AAP recommends no TV until the age of 2. </p> <p>But staying Rear Facing is FIVE TIMES safer for them. She's 17 months and still rear facing. She doesn't complain yet so we don't want to turn her. If she does start complaining before she turns two, we're going to call her doctor and ask their opinion.
