@codeitall: Glad to hear it worked out. This sounds like the route we took with my daughter! I hope it corrects and you don't have to have surgery, but if you do it's not so bad. Just prepare yourself for crazy red eyeballs!

Well the specialist said today that it is small enough there is a chance it will correct itself (or it could get worse, we'll see). But we're going to be scheduled for follow-ups every 3 months till she's at least 2 haha! So the next visit will definitely be on the new insurance and that'll be cheaper out of pocket than cobra for two months :)

Holy cow, the cobra costs are crazy!

You should be able to ask the billing group what costs to expect/ plan for and run the numbers. You'll have to talk to your HR about cobra costs- hey are expensive but I noticed they went down a lot in the last few years (between my mat leave and when I left my job they seems much more affordable- not sure of the ACA had anything to do with that) but in the end that's what I'd do- get cost quotes from the doctors and find out about cobra options and costs and compare.

Cobra will likely be a lot more expensive than what your paying now. In general it's 2% above the rates the carrier charges however you likely won't be receiving any funding from your employer.

My daughter had this. We took her to see a specialist when she was 6 months and then followed up every six months. She patched and worn glasses for a couple of years and finally had the surgery around age three. I think her doctor wanted to see if she would correct on her own. I don't know if all cases are like this but they were really reluctant to perform surgery on her as an infant. She was born with her eye turning and it just got progressively worse. Anyway as far as cost I don't remember. Generally deductibles are calendar year and COBRA is generally marked up. I hope this helps!

It is genetic, so this really wasn't a surprise to us. DD's left eye turns in occasionally. We're scheduled to see a specialist as soon as they can fit us in, but my question is mostly about insurance and costs.

She was born this year, so her deductible on my current plan has been met, but starting October, she'll be covered under a new HDHP with my new job :(

If she does need surgery and they can't get us in before our insurance changes, should I pay out for COBRA or eat the cost of a new deductible for just 3 months? Is that even possible to continue a plan with COBRA when you could be covered under a new plan? Ugh. How expensive is this surgery anyway?!?

Are the dark circles hereditary? I read somewhere that there might not be anything you can really do to lighten them.

I use Bobbi Brown concealer, it's the only thing that helps, I also put it on my eyelids because i have highly pigmented lids and that contributes to the shadows i have.

Alright bees,

I have had some vicious dark circles under my eyes for as long as I can remember. I'd love your recs for under eye cream to help reduce them, as well as any makeup suggestions you have.

I currently use Bobbi Brown corrector and concealer, which I like, but I am open to anything that's a miracle worker.

I'm especially looking for a cream/product to minimize/get rid of them.
