I think they are more common or noticeable with subsequent pregnancies. Here's the update: The pain was so bad by late Monday night we went into OB Triage for some relief and to see if I was in active labor. No change at 1am, or at 6am when I left. I stayed up the rest of the night because of super painful contractions every 3-5 minutes, no relief from 2 baths and a shower. Walked to my 11am doctor appointment to beg for some help, and I was at 6cm and 100%! I am at 36 weeks and haven't been checked yet so I don't know if they are causing progress. Emptying my bladder frequently is the most helpful thing for me- even though I sometimes need to do cat/cow or down dog to get baby off my bladder so I can actually go. I got checked today and am 2cm dilated and 90% effaced. Which could all mean nothing. I am in a ton of pain from the contractions, and would love something to stop them- all of the tips I have read are to jumpstart active labor, and I would still like to hang out for a while if I can (really want to make it to 37 weeks). Any ideas on stopping the contractions but not bringing on labor? So far the only thing that feels good is a hot shower, and walking, while not easy, gets them to stop for a short while. </p>
