@Chillybear: yes! The "ask a question" would be great too! Like on the Bank of America website it pops up time to time but only when there is a chat specialist ready and available to talk. I kind of like that because then you aren't waiting around wondering if anyone is going to respond to your message.

@Ginabean3: Recently viewed would probably be very helpful on our site. I think doing reviews would be great but because of the way we order/ship there might be too much of a delay for that to be helpful to most customers. I do like the Ask a Question about this item boxes that i've seen pop up on some websites

I do A LOT of online shopping and my fave site (ease of use) are nordstroms, amazon, and zappos.

Nordstroms because it's so easy to filter to see what you want. I also love how at the bottom of the page they show you the items you recently viewed. Free shipping and returns is also amazing.

Amazon because you can filter by the number of stars in the reviews. I also love love love their customer service. They make it super easy to contact them and to get a resolution.

Zappos because of the filtering, and FAST shipping.

I think for me, the most important thing is the search, filtering, and then being able to save things on a wish list so I can track it for price reductions.

@cmomma17: without getting into too much detail i think it would greatly improve the shopping experience on our website if the customer could log in and organize their thoughts better with multiple wishlists before checking out

this may be nit-picky but my biggest pet peeve when online shopping is when a page only shows like 10 items and you have to click through 15 pages to see everything you searched for. I ALWAYS just want to "view all," why is that not the default?

@Mrs. High Heels: Do you think they do a good job with suggesting related products to the one you purchased either something similar (ie if you like top X then you'll like top Y) or something coordinating (ie if you love top X you'll love skirt Z)

@Chillybear: I think Nordstrom's site does a great job at filtering for specifics. Also, I like filtering by things like relevance, price high to low, or price low to high, and by best rated.

for the most part i dislike online shopping unless i'm looking for something very specific. I like to handle items and i like instant gratification of brick and mortar shopping. I am going into a meeting tomorrow focusing on ecommerce and improving our website for our very specific needs (we are not a traditional shopping website) since i dont do a lot of online shopping can anyone point me to websites that they really like how its organized or ease of shopping or just generally love to browse through so i can come up with some talking points?

For example: Amazon - I hate browsing for items on that site because it feels like getting lost in a rabbit hole but i love the organization of the wish list feature and being able to have multiple lists with different profiles

Emergency plan. Like:

If LO is at daycare/school, who picks up LO?
If you can't make it home, where to meet up? (should be 1 location and a backup) Also and additional oot location.
Out of town numbers to call if local calls go down.
What items to have on hand in case there is, say, no power for a week.
Packing checklist in case of evacuation.
Family code words.

Also some kind of guide to the first day or two at home on your own with an infant. We've taken the classes, but I still don't feel ready.

@Mrs. Bee: Ouch!! I'm glad it's nothing permanent.

By the way, I just decided to do a Very Hungry Caterpillar theme for our 1st birthday party coming up. Spent about an hour browsing and having fun creating our invites. It seems very overdone, according to the internet popularity but that's ok, it's always been our daughter's favorite book and I've never been to one personally. We may do the carnival theme another year though since our yard would be ideal for it. Maybe when she's a little older. Looking forward to the guides though.

@Boogs: he fell on his arm at the playground. he couldn't move his arm and our pediatrician told us to take him to the er to get an xray. it popped back into place by itself in a couple of hours while we were at the er.

it's happened a couple more times since then, though never as severe. so we're very careful not to swing him by his arms. some kids are just more prone to it. our pediatrician showed us how to pop it back in place -- bend his elbow like he's throwing something over his shoulder.

@Mrs. Bee: a Carnival birthday theme would be great.

I have a birth plan to submit if you need one. I got it from a very old CA Kaiser online plan and tweaked it. When I showed the midwife at our hospital in a 6 month visit, she said it was very 'gentle' (like not bossy).

One thing that my doula gave me that I found really helpful was a sample birth plan. In addition to listing our preferences, what I found striking about the sample we got from our doula was how NICE it was. Instead of "we want this, we don't want this" it was all phrased as "We are hoping to have an [adjective] birth, and would really appreciate your help and support in doing so. If you could do [X], and refrain from doing [Y], that would be great."

I believe there is a printable for what to pack for the hospital? If not, definitely that. I think a birth plan checklist of some sort would be good... even if it was a list of questions to talk over with your doctor/midwife/partner/doula.
