I couldn't look at him or talk to him for the rest of the day. He was an awful father, and now has no interest in being a grandfather. Trouble is, my mother in law is the world's best grandmother, and cares for my daughter two days a week. So my toddler was doing some typical toddler stuff (trying to help a little too much with the cooking), and my father in law full on lost his temper and screamed at her. Which is really, really unacceptable to us.</p> <p>And now it's this huge thing that we have to deal with. I told him that he was never permitted to speak to my daughter that way, but honestly, he has no reason to change. He doesn't especially want a relationship with her or me. We make homemade gravy from the turkey renderings. Well, this year, somehow there wasn't a ton but there were a bunch of people over. She had some store bought gravy she was trying to get everybody to eat so she could have "the good stuff" but obviously nobody was going for that and she was freaking out because she wanted some and yet refused to get her food until everybody was done and said everybody was taking it all so she couldn't have any... really? I just snapped and told her to stop bitching and eat. She didn't like that.... Oh well. DD has seemed extra whiney lately and was refusing to go down for a nap at my parents' house. She would sleep on me but then cry when I put her down, which she hasn't done since she was a newborn. I lost it. I started crying. My mom took over and made me lay down to take a nap. When DH got home I broke down and cried to him and later said I needed a vacation from DD.
