We gave her scrambled eggs as probably one of her first 8 foods....she ate a ton and threw up a lot a couple hours later. She wasn't allergic, but it just seems like it was too much for her digestive system.
We didn't really wait on anything, just gave her what we were eating within reason. We started with avocado and banana. Did chunky purees for about a month, then switched to baby led weaning.

We had cereal but LO didn't like it... then I just started giving him what we ate (except for egg whites, honey, shell fish, peanuts and nuts).

Egg yolks was definitely one of his early foods. :)

I had to get over giving him our food too... but I thought hey we are eating it he can eat it too. Also the gagging was a big worry for me... a nurse told me that gagging is okay... it's when they make no sound and put their hands up is when you should worry.

We didn't do cereal and his first food was avocado.

We did have concerns about allergies because he was MSPI.

So as we quickly approach the 6 month mark (how did THAT happen?!) I've been doing research on the best first foods for babies. I've always been leery of rice cereal but was considering oatmeal as a first food. Then I ran across this article:

http://naturalkids.wordpress.com/2013/08/20/egg-yolk-the-perfect-first-food-for-baby/

Has anyone on here started their baby off on egg yolk? I am a little nervous about allergies, even though they state that the allergy is in the white part of the egg. If you didn't do rice cereal, what did you start your LO off with for first food?
