@marym: do you also take an iron supplement with your gummies? I had been using the gummies and I LOVED them (hard to eat just two a day, they are so tasy!), but then when I realized there was no iron I switched to giant pills :(

@MaryM: I've been taking smartypants, but don't really like them. It has nothing to do with how I feel, but I don't like the taste. Not enough that I won't finish the bottle, but I won't buy them again.

They're only downfall (that I see) is the sugar content. I haven't had any bad reactions to them except when morning sickness has been bad.

@oskarsmommy: I have been wondering about DHA-EPA ratio and how that affects you... probably something I should research a bit more!

I take these.. They are a whole little packet of 5 or 6 pills.. The EPA-DHA is in perfect ratio, or something like that. My acupuncturist started me on them. The b vitamins are methylated, (aka folate, instead of folic acid) so they are good for those with mthfr mutation (me).

All I can say is this - my hair was thin and falling out a few months back, and since I started these my hair has never been thicker.. same for my nails, they were always thin and now they are crazy strong! With my son I took citranatal and I didn't notice much difference with my nails & hair..

Since I have kind of baby fine hair, I will spend the money on these - probably forever!!

I unfortunately haven't tried that brand. Hopefully someone has here who can chime in.

I wanted one with folate - most of those were pretty pricey, unfortunately. I ended up trying Best Nest Prenatal. No serious complaints, though it does sometimes upset my stomach a bit, so I might switch once I finish the bottle.

Thanks! I did some more research and looks like there's very little to no mercury in supplements due to the process when they're made. Just to be safe anyway I bought a prenatal that's combined with DHA/EPA at a fairly low dose.

I asked my doc today if it would be okay to take an omega/DHA supplement since I'm not eating a lot of fish and she said it's fine. I went to the drugstore but then noticed that all the supplements seem to have mackerel listed as one of the fish sources. I got freaked out and didn't buy any! I thought mackerel was on the high mercury list? Or is that only king mackerel? And does it have the same mercury levels in a pill form? Anyone else taking these supplements?

Put them in the freezer. They don't smell/taste like much when they are super cold and they are a bit heavier and sink down in your stomach faster so less of a chance of burping them up. I think it's actually better for absorption too!

I switched to taking mine right before I crawl into bed at night, so if they make me feel bad or if I can taste it later, at least I'm asleep! I never had a problem with vitamins until I started taking prenatals with DHA. Don't know if yours are OTC or prescription, but I had a reeeally hard time with the prescription ones! The Target brand is so much milder. Also I eat a snack before bed every night (usually a small bowl of cereal) so I'm not taking them on an empty stomach.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who has a hard time taking fish oil?!?! I'm a vegetarian, so my 'fish oil' is actually derived from algea (but that's what fish eat to smell fishy, so it all tastes the same). My daily prenatal & DHA/EPA (the fishy ones) are both vegan, so I figured they'd be okay. I find myself gagging & almost throwing up every time I take the stupid 'fish oil'. My friend told me her midwife suggests taking 3 at a time during pregnancy. I know I'm a prime candidate for morning sickness, so I am terrified of these pills! Is there anything you did to keep that taste from making you gag?
