Newborn prefds were easier than I thought but I'd go with fitteds. Just one less step!

Go with fitted! It's so much easier to keep the poop contained. I love our fitteds!

@glimmersnaps: We're going to do disposable until the umbilical cord falls off, and if the fitted are too big we were given some size 1 disposables as well, so we can use those in a pinch! The service offers diapers for newborns, so I think we should be okay!

@MsInformation: I was kind of thinking of those late night diaper changes and being super tired, trying to fold and whatnot. I'm not super coordinated, so it likely wouldn't go well, lol!

Thanks so much for the input ladies! I feel much better now!!

My co-workers gifted us two months with a cloth diaper service that offers both prefolds and fitteds. We tried both during the first week and decided to go with all fitteds. Like @caffeinated, I was terrible at the origami folds and DH got incredibly frustrated with the folding too. It didn't help that LO squirms and screams like crazy during diaper changes - not conducive to fumbling around with prefolds! Our technique probably would have improved with practice, but we're only using this service for two months and then switching to the stash of one-size pocket diapers I purchased during pregnancy, so it wasn't worth the effort to become adept at the prefolds.

Another plus for fitteds is that they are waaaaay easier for those bleary, middle-of-the-night diaper changes!

A fitted would be easier, but after a few days/weeks practice the prefold gets much easier!

Are the fitteds going to be newborn-sized? Make sure you don't have to put your newborn in a one-size diaper because it will be super bulky!

Fitteds are way better at containing the poop. I was never good at the origami folds, and usually did the three folds and i could never get a tight fit.

Could you do both on a trial basis and then decide which one you want to stick to?

So I'm a little overwhelmed here. We've narrowed it down to two diaper services: One offers fitted diapers (we'd still be putting a shell over it to prevent leaks/dampness through to clothes), and the other offers pre-folds. So in either case, we'll be using the protective covers/shells over top.

What's the benefit of the pre-fold vs the fitted? Any advice? The pre-fold diaper service is cheaper, but to me, wouldn't the fitted be easier/more convenient? I'm confused! Help!
