@buttermilk: I don't have any experience with flips but I am on kid #2 in BG 4.0s. They are discontinuing them so they are 12.95 each right now plus a free diaper if you spend $100. So I got 9 diapers recently for just over $100 to refresh my stash.

We got a mix of flips, diaper rites & imagine covers and inserts. Flips are by far my favorite covers. They fit great and I haven't had leaking issues. The inserts are nice since they are sizable but the covers can be used with any insert. I'm actually planning on replacing my diaper rite & imagine covers with more flips!

@buttermilk: I only had one gdiaper cover/she'll that I purchased used to see how it fit. I didn't invest in the gcloth inserts, so I'm not sure about those with flip covers. But the flip system is versatile enough that I would imagine they'd be fine.

We started with newborn sized prefolds, which fit perfectly in the flips, on the smallest rise setting. Now we're using the infant size, which are a touch snug, still on the smallest rise setting. My daughter is still little (not quite 8 weeks), so I'm not sure how long this size prefold will work, as she's a heavy wetter as well. But for the moment, I love this system.

@buttermilk: I used gDiapers, Flips, BG 4.0, and RAR. I had a lot of the same issues you are having with the gDiapers. I want to love them because they are so trim, but I just can't. I used the gDiaper inserts with other covers without any problems until she was 21 months old. By that point, she was peeing out of everything since she is such a heavy wetter.

I love our flips! We have 7 flip covers and a handful of g diaper covers and I definitely like the flip covers better, I feel like it's easier to get a good fit with them. We do laundry about every 4 days and my lo poops frequently so we go through more covers than a lot of people so around ten is great for us but I think most people get away with fewer.

We use the stay dry inserts most of the time, I have hemp doublers that I toss in with it if we will be out for awhile. I bought the wrong size of prefolds though and they don't fit nicely in my covers so we only use them when we are at the bottom of the barrel!

We have a mix of varieties, including flips, and bumgenius 4.0s. We had one gdiaper that she's since grown out of--I hated it, terrible fit for us. I love our flips, they are my go-to diaper during the day. I have only used them with prefolds, so I can't speak to the inserts, but I definitely recommend the covers.

4.0s are pockets, meaning that they have a sleeve to slide the insert into. Flips are covers, meaning you just set the insert into them. They have tabs to hold the insert in place in the front and back of the diaper. I expected to love the 4.0s, but I have found that I hate pockets--I dislike having to pull the wet or soiled insert out. Flips you can just flip it right out.

I've used them for travel. We prefer AIO but they are less bulk. I felt like if I didn't change the cover each time it was slightly damp and stinky but maybe that was user error

I hated pocket style diapers but I love the flip cover! You may find the insert will bunch a little but I prefer using cotton against the baby. I never used the actual flip inserts, just prefolds.

I love my Flips and prefolds! I do pre-make a diaper (usually right before I change my LO) so the change goes quicker. It's easy enough to pre make them as you need them. At night we do 2 prefolds and don't have a problem with leaks.

ETA I would recommend at least 4 flip covers. We have 10 but that's because daycare won't wipe and reuse them, so we have to wash all of the ones that come home from daycare because they're just in the wet bag getting yucky all day!

I used both the Flip and the BG 4.0. They are both good, but it just depends on what you want to use. Sometimes I liked the pocket 4.0 for the ability to have the diapers ready to go during changing time (and for caregivers). But the flips were nice to use when I wanted to add lots of absorbency.

Hi! My DD is 2 months and we have been using gDiapers. I thought I would love them, but I'm always either getting leaks around the legs, or the whole diaper feels damp. It may be the fit - DD is long and skinny. I find the pouch and cloth insert are always bunching up between her legs. Since I would need to purchase the next size up to continue using, I'm just not sure I like them enough to spend more money on them.

So I'm considering switching to the Flip diaper system instead. Would love to hear other's experiences with them! I like that I would be able to add extra doublers, etc to customize absorbency bc baby girl is a heavy wetter!

Also I'm trying to figure out the difference between them and BG 4.0. I understand those are pocket style so they are stuffed differently. How does that affect things? More/less/or same absorbency as flips? And also with BG you have to change the entire diaper every time right? So I would need more, and therefore more expensive? If you use Flip, how many covers do you have?

@birdofafeather: same! Ds1 was always heads down, found out at 19 wks ds2 was head down but didn't worry since it was so early. Once the movements picked up I knew he was head down due to hiccups but there were times I thought he may be transverse. At 36 wks I had my first cervical check and confirmed he was head down although i think my on knew that prior to that day. Good luck!!

My second baby was breeched. He was head down till about 20 weeks ... I totally felt him flip and he never flipped back. I had a successful inversion right before my planned c-section (due to the breech position) which the quickly induced my labor so I can give birth vaginally but I then had an emergency c-section for other reasons.

I was really fearful of the c-section but that part wasn't bad at all. :)

I hope your baby flips! I just wanted to let you know that it's not the end of the world if your baby doesn't flip back.

Baby was breech until about 24 weeks, then transverse (sideways) until about 30. She's been firmly head-down since then. If she hadn't flipped by about 32 weeks, the midwife talked about the 'Spinning Babies' book and website - I guess there are some tips and tricks to help flip a breech baby.
