When I had mastitis I woke up feeling achy and pathetic with fever and severe chills. I never threw up, and I did get breast pain pretty quickly. That said, if it's mastitis the antibiotics work very quickly! If you're still feeling awful tomorrow it's probably the flu.

I had awful chills and fever and some breast soreness, but the red streaks and hard sections of boob didn't kick in until 2 days later. In the meantime I thought I had the flu because my chills and fever were so bad. I felt SO much better after 24 hours on antibiotics. My doctor also added 2 rounds of diflucan to my Rx order so I didn't have thrush issues.

So I had to leave work today because I was so nauseous and light headed. I threw up right before leaving and also have a temp of 101.2. I have a little bit of breast tenderness but not bad at all and no hard lumps or redness. DS hasn't been eating well bc he has a nasty cold. My primary Doctor thinks I have mastitis and prescribed antibiotics. She said that lots of women show other signs (fever, nausea, vomiting) before they feel any lumps or breast pain. Anyway, I'm just a little nervous to take antibiotics while nursing ( she prescribed nursing friendly meds) and I really really don't want thrush. I have had the flu shot this year.

Did anyone have mastitis but not really have the classic signs?

I would say some sort of bug. Influenza (what the flu shot protects against) is a respiratory virus NOT a stomach/intestinal virus, so if you have any sort of vomiting/diarrhea/cramping it is most definitely not the flu. It definitely could be gastroenteritis ("stomach flu") which does come along with those kinds of things and which the flu shot does not protect against.

What about fevers? Usually flu comes on suddenly and with a fever. Colds come on gradually and have a very low grade or no fever. There's so many different bugs going around right now.

Calling Dr. Hellobee - DH, DS and I have all been hit with a variety of flu like symptoms, but pretty mild. We all got the flu shot which I know is not 100% effective and can reduce the severity of flu symptoms if you do catch it, but what we've got seems extra extra mild and it seems a little weird that we all got sick. I've tried googling but everything about flu symptoms is about the flu. I remember mastitis is described as causing flu like symptoms. Wondering if anyone has any other things they know off the top of their heads that do too. Especially wondering cause we saw a ton of family while LO was sick, and today when DH and I both started to feel it - including my 7.5mo pregnant SIL.

Here are symptoms if that helps. We've all had an occasional cough, DH and I have had a bit of congestion and headache. DS and I have thrown up and had lack of appetite - DH just has lack of appetite. I've had fatigue and the chills. DS has been his normal active self so I don't think he's had those symptoms. No diarrhea or stomach cramps or things like that. DS got sick about 5 days ago and today is the first day for me and DH.

Thanks!

Thanks @marym , this TTC thing is already more stressful than I thought! Based on my cycles from the past 6 months or so, it seems like nothing really affects it that much. I've been sick and I've traveled, and I always ovulated between CD 15 and 20, even on my first cycle off nuvaring. I thought FOR SURE I would see a nice thermal shift this morning, and since I didn't, I just feel let down. It doesn't help that I'm also feeling doubtful that the amount of BDing we've done this cycle just isn't going to cut it :bummed:

I don't have any insight (I have a hard time reading Kindara charts), but I just wanted to commiserate. I was sick leading up to O this month and have a feeling it affected where my coverline ended up being. I'm stressed out that my post O temps aren't as high as they usually are, but am trying to chalk it up to being under the weather.

So here's the story, the crazy temp jump (shaded in gray) on cd 16 was the day I was really sick, so I marked it questionable. But then on either cd 17 or 18, my thermometer stopped doing the 2nd peep, and would no longer record my temperature. I got a new thermometer, and thought that it was fine because my temps the next couple of days with the new thermometer aligned with earlier temps. Fast forward to today, cd 21, and still no shift! In the shower this morning I briefly noticed some breast tenderness so now I'm wondering if I ovulated sometime during the flu/thermometer fiasco and the new thermometer had just enough of a difference in temperature reading to make my chart look like there was no shift. I figure I can be anywhere from 6dpo to not having ovulated at all yet. I should also mention that I think it's highly unlikely that I wouldn't ovulate at all since I have never had that issue before, and I've been charting for 6+ months. I have also been sick 2 other times this year, and neither time was my cycle affected by it that much... I know I probably just need to wait but I would appreciate any insight! Thank you!

@mrs. wagon: 3 days??? Good for you. Today is my 2.5 day and while I am much better than yesterday, I feel that this thing is transitioning into a big cold. Hopefully it will be gone in another 24 hours like you said!

@mrbee: yes he did everything on his own ok. I always know he can do it he just refuse to. Yesterday at 3 he told me to go to urgent care and I was like but u have to pick LO up now and you can't take care of him on ur own. He said I can if I wanted to. So off I went. He fed him dinner, have him a bath, bedtime, and deal with night wakings (LO is sick too). This morning he gave him breakfast and all, and took him out to lunch and put him down for a nap. All on his own and this has never happened before. So in a way this is nice for him to step up. Except he left a tornado of mess (which is what he often complains about me, and he is 10 times worse)and he kept saying to LO "mommy is sick don't get near it is mommy's fault she gets sick". That is another story for another time. Sigh

@abbydabbydoodlebug: yes I feel a lot better already and it is not even 24 hours yet - just glad the aches are gone!

This is a rant, I apologize, but ....?????!???

I had a flu shot in November. Went out shopping last wed-Thursday, and got flu symptoms on Saturday (basically very sick with chills and aches). Was confirmed yesterday at an urgent care and now on tamiflu. They said I would pretty much feel like crap until the weekends. What???

Daycare is closed for 1.5 weeks and I was looking forward to spending time with LO. Instead husband basically quarantined me. I know he is doing the right thing, but I am beyond bummed!! I guess I should be thankful that both of them seems to be fine for now (LO does have a cough and didn't sleep well for the past 2 nights, but doesn't have a fever so I doubt it was the flu I got, or hopefully his vaccine matches up better than the one I got).

No point to this post, just a note to you all that this year's flu vaccine is not very effective so please stay healthy!
