DD1 has eczema (and probably mild asthma) but no food allergies. DD2 is eight months and broke out in a rash and hives after her first exposure to peanuts (also has eczema). We'll be seeing an allergist to follow up.

DD has a peanut allergy (and she had symptoms of having allergies bc she had eczema as a young infant), but so far no signs of anything from DS (no eczema, asthma...), though I haven't attempted to give him nuts yet either.

Although I don't have experience with one child without food allergies, both of my kids showed signs of their food allergies around 2.5 to 3 months old. With DS1 he had really bad eczema and mucus-y green stool with the occasional streaks of blood. Once I eliminated foods in my diet, I saw improvement in his skin and stool. With DS2 he had the same signs as well as excessive spit up and reoccurring bloody stool.

I'm still waiting for #2 to arrive, but my neighbor has 3 kids (all same gender) and only the middle one has allergies (MANY food allergies). My cousin also has three kids (2 girls and the youngest is a boy) and only the youngest (the boy) has allergies (and they're severe). I think it's kinda a crapshoot, but I don't really know from personal experience.

I have several food allergies, after completing shots for 7 years they have lessened greatly.

This was a main concern when we got pregnant with DS 3, but knock on wood he's doing great. not a reaction in sight.

As I'm now pregnant with #2, I am concerned about allergies yet again..

Curious, anyone have experience with a kiddo with no allergies and one with? When did they appear?

@2PeasinaPod: Thanks for the recipe! It looks yummy.
@evansjamie: The nearest Kroger is about 45-60 minutes away. We have a Meijer but it has an extremely limited selection. I do go into a larger town about twice a month.
@MrsKoala: Thanks for the link to the blog. I will be reveiwing it.

I'm so sorry that you're going through this, but I'm glad you know your sensitivities now and you will fee better once the allergens are out of your system. Do you have Kroger where you live? A lot of grocery stores are getting more and more gluten/allergen free items, and the one I go to has a decent selection. If you don't have Kroger, does your local store have a natural foods section?

Yay! If there's anything you can't have in here, just eliminate it! My DH isn't a huge fan of cayenne pepper and we don't miss it!

-3 cloves of minced garlic
-1/3 cup olive oil
-1/4 cup tomato sauce (more if you want to make it a bit more saucy)
-2 Tablespoons of red wine vinegar (I do more b/c I looooove red wine vinegar)
-2 Tablespoons of chopped fresh basil (If I don't have fresh, I use 1/4-1/2 tsp of dried)
-1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
1 lb of uncooked, peeled shrimp

Combine everything and marinate the shrimp for 30 minutes or more, then bake at 350 for 20 minutes until shrimp are done. If you use cooked shrimp, just marinate and heat on 350 until warm (10 minutes).

We put it over pasta, but given your gluten and egg allergy, rice would work as well! We made this for our friend who also has a tree nut allergy and it's a staple recipe every week for them now!

I am going to a natural path and they are doing the blood test... forget what it is called. I have had the prick test done x 3 in my life, and only environmental and nuts come up, even though I have said for years there is something else. I have had reactions to mango, and have major stomach issues.

@JoJoGirl: I have been looking into Paleo because of its other health benefits. I suppose I will be looking more seriously now.
@MrsScottish: There are a couple of Health food stores where I live but they are all pretty small. I live in a pretty small town. However I travel to a bigger city a couple times a month so I could stock up at like a Whole Foods or Trader Joe's. What test are you having done? I just had the ALCAT done, because I have been having all kinds of tummy issues.
@spaniellove: Thanks I will look into this!
@Mrs. Jacks: I will check out your Blog. I am hoping to feel a lot better once all the allergens are out of my system.

Your intolerances sound very similar to my daughter's when she was an infant. You can check out my mspi blog post for links to lots of resources. It is possible to thrive despite these limitations and you'll probably feel really good once you get your allergens out of your system.

No specific recipes to recommend, but just about everything we make in our home is free of lactose/milk, gluten, eggs, tree nuts (and peanuts), and corn syrup because of my many food allergies and DH's lactose intolerance and celiac. We eat a lot of Korean food and I think there are also a lot of good cookbooks geared towards families with these allergies/intolerances. They used to be about baking but there are more and more about regular dinner food! Cybele Pascal has a lot of recipes and a book that I think covers all of your needs...hope this helps a little!

I feel for you! I am allergic to tree nuts, and have suspected for years a gluten allergy. Going for allergy testing in May. I think there is other things as well. I am on a very restricted diet right now. I was so proud of myself last night for making a gluten free, nut free, vegetarian meal! Salad with pumpkin seeds, rice, tomato soup, and a gluten free/egg free veggie burger! Is there a health store close to where you live? My new fav store is Vita health and they have a row of freezer and a row of dry goods of gluten free, diary free and egg free items.

I found out yesterday that I am intolerant to: Cow's Milk, Egg Whites, Gluten, HFCS, and a whole slew of other things. I am also allergic to all Tree Nuts (If it isn't a Peanut, its a Tree Nut). I need some help navigating through this new world. If you have any great stand by recipes I would really like to see them. (If they are on Pinterest even better)
