Just a PSA, Clek has their 2013 Foonf convertible car seat for $299.99, plus S&H ($30), and no sales tax (they are a Canadian company) available at their website. The clearance price is for the two Paul Frank versions, which I think are beyond cute.

Just picked up a Foonf and soooo excited for it to come! Hope baby loves it and hope it fits in our tiny car!

I have the Foonf, and we absolutely love it. I came down to the same final four as @loveisstrange and totally agree that it comes down to what fits your baby and your car. We went to BBB and tried DD in the seats and tried the seats in our car (4door sedan). Surprisingly, we had the most room front-to-back with the Foonf, and it was the only one in which DD didn't scream like a banshee. We were doing a cross-country (1200 miles each way) road trip for Christmas, so it was well worth the extra cash to get a seat she loved. She cried every time we put her in her infant seat (Chicco Keyfit, which I loved anyway fwiw), but she only fussed for 30 minutes total on our 4 day road trips.

I did tons of research and the Foonf was one up for consideration. In the end, we found one for 1/4 the price that does everything we needs it to and has amazing ratings.

I agree that the "best of the best" is the one that fits your budget and your car.

We have it and love it. I'm not sure it' the best of the best since the best car seat is one that fits your budget, your car and your LO, but it certainly has some great features - high safety ratings being one of them!!

I'm starting to research car seats as my DD is 6 months old and I'll get getting away from her infant one in the coming months. A local store is advertising that they will be getting in the Clek Foonf car seat. Apparently it has the highest safety rating and is the best of the best. Just wondering if anyone has it and opinions? It's almost $500 so wanting honest opinions and not just youtube reviews and such. Thanks!

We just got ours after convincing my mom to buy one for us while Amazon was running a deal in them. I'm loving it bc my mom is so tall but I'm wondering about the sleeping issue of it being more upright than her combi. Did your LOs get used to it or did you finagle it to recline more?

We have the foonf for our 7 month old and we love it! I'm tall, so sightline isn't an issue. As for comfort, we were told at bbb to take into consideration how much/long we drive when I asked them about the lack of padding. We don't do long road trips with the baby too often (at most an hour to 2) and he ALWAYS falls asleep in the seat, so it can't be too comfortable. Safety over comfort was why we chose the foonf.

@mozahsuf: I don't know how helpful this is since we have the pavilion (as I mentioned above): our seats are not in the center seat but behind the passenger as there is no LATCH fasteners in the center. We have been really happy with this and felt LO is safe. We do have an old Civic (2001) but we are both tall so I can't say anything about sightlines...

@mozahsuf: Ok, so I have the Foonf in the center seat of my Jeep Liberty. I'm 5'1". Currently, the headwings are in the lowest position, and I have no trouble seeing out of the rearview mirror. But I have heard that it can be an issue when you need to start raising the headwings higher. I was pretty set on keeping LO in the middle of the backseat, too, but if seeing out the back becomes a real issue, I'll move the seat to the driver's side. I guess if there were any carseat I'd feel comfortable with doing that, it'd be the Foonf, because of the steel frame.

I haven't used any of the other seats talked about in this thread, though, to know how the Foonf compares.

Oh, and you mentioned the cushioning. Yeah, it doesn't seem very cushy, that's true. I haven't noticed if he's been uncomfortable, but he's only 7 months old, so he can't just tell me if he is :). He doesn't sleep AS much/well in it as he did in his infant seat, but he seems pretty content in it!

I had another followup question the foonf:

Through store credit and discounts, I may be able to purchase a foonf for around $160, or a Recaro/Britax for around $50. Is the foonf worth the extra money, or should I stick with a Prosport or Boulevard? My LO is 16 months.

Secondly, I've done some searches on fitting the foonf into a Civic, and the results have been somewhat heartbreaking. It seems there's a near consensus that the foonf will definitely obstruct your vision when you glance at the rear-view mirror, and therefore the foonf is probably best placed behind the driver's seat. I am bummed out because we want to keep LO in the center seat, so my second question revolves around the practicality of shifting LO to one of the OB positions in the backseat in order to put him into a foonf. Is the maneuvering worth it?

@mozahsuf: If my memory is correct, they are practically identical. I think our version of the pavilion had some minor safety enhancement like extra-absorbent pads on the safety harness? We only got the pavilion because the amazon sale made it cheaper than the boulevard.

@mozahsuf: We have the pavilion and have been really happy with it! My LO is in the 95th %ile for height and at 21 months is still well below the height guideline to continue rear-facing until at least two, if not longer. I would say she has at least 6 or so inches before she is too tall for the RF seat.

We got the pavilion on sale through amazon mom around this time last year and I think it might be on sale again this year! The price savings made a big difference for us!

@keiki_mama: we did actually try it at bbb, and while it didn't totally obstruct our views, it was definitely noticeable in ways that the britax pavilion was not. i lean conservative on this particular safety issue since i presume being able to check blind spots/rear view mirror is as important as buying a good seat. my spouse is also kind of a new driver (recent immigrant, no previous driving experience) so i want to make sure she can check her blind spots and the rear view mirror.

im glad you've had no issues with the Recaro and visibility, and I will take your observation into account as we consider our options. thanks!

Well we were between the foonf, pavillion and recaro. The foonf got vetoed because I have a really small car (and we were buying two carseats so it was $$). Then it was between the recaro and pavillion and we went with the pavillion. I wanted the recaro but it wasn't made in the USA so my DH didn't want it anymore. I didn't research the britax because I was sure on one of the others. DS is average size and has plenty of room in it though.
