I held my neice when I was 12 weeks pregnant and that was the first newborn I held. I was so scared to move and could barely breathe cause I thought I would hurt her. Well once my DD was born it came so natural and I could hold her and move her so easy. The one thing I was scared was changing diapers. I'm comfortable once they are a little bigger and don't seem so fragile! Same with diaper changes-- older, I can deal with, itty bitty I'm afraid! A lady I work with brought in her daughter with her 3 week old a couple weeks ago and while she was totally adorable I did not hold her and another coworker commented on this afterwords. It was a week or two before I really got over that. Then when a friend handed me her baby recently I was like oh god I might drop you! The first hour of Wagon Jr.'s life he laid in the bassinet sleeping while Wagon Sr. and I searched for a nurse to supervise us in our room with the baby because we didn't think we were qualified to be alone with him. </p> <p>And how beautiful that you immediately knew you wanted to be a mom. There is nothing more magical than bringing life into this world. Someone who used to work there brought her 3 month old baby. I never pay other people's baby too much attention, so when she was sleeping no big deal. Everyone kept talking about how cute she was. She never cried the entire party. Then, when someone picked her up, my heart melted into 1000 tiny pieces. Which brings me to some confessions.</p> <p>1) I realized, I have never actually held a baby :O Um, how in the world can I have my own?</p> <p>2) I was actually SCARED to hold the baby. I said no, I don't want to break her. To which everyone laughed. They said a baby is not as fragile as you think, but she was only 10lbs. She was this small bundle of fragility in my mind!</p> <p>okay, I'll give you one more confession, since we're spilling all we have here- I instantly knew that I wanted to be a mom. To care for, and love unconditionally another human being. The dirty diapers, spit up on my fresh dress, whatever-I'm willing to undertake it. And I want to do it with my dear husband. I'm sure a whole lot more crazy nonsense comes too- like the not sleeping. This mom said her baby never cries lucky lady! All the, "oh we have to buy a house first, and have x amount of dollars saved, really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. Life is short. Sometimes all too short as we have seen today. </p> <p>Well, those are my confessions! </p>
