My mom made us a couple things to freeze. Spinach lasagna, chicken in a pot, and turkey meatloaf. But I didn't eat them until my lo was at least 3 months old because people brought food for us daily.

Yes and then we never ate it because when we came home it was the hottest week of the year and we didn't want to turn the stove on. Plus none of them sounded good.

I wish I had prepared freezer meals prior to my LO's arrival. Cooking (and cleaning) was one of the last things I wanted to do while taking care of a newborn. We ordered a lot of take-out for the first couple of weeks, and it would have been nice to eat a homemade meal -- even from the freezer.

Nope... some people brought us enough food to feed us for months! We also survived on takeout and things like frozen lasagnas from costco.

Check out moneysavingmom.com. She does a lot of freezer cooking and has a section of her website dedicated to just that. Lots of great recipes and tips for how to do it and what freezes well and what doesn't.

I was too lazy to cook so I stocked up on a lot of Trader Joe's frozen stuff. I think we ate that for months afterwards.

I am assuming that you are wanting to prepare things ahead of time so you don't have to worry about cooking for you and DH after the baby arrives. I haven't had a baby yet but both my DH and I work long hours so we have gotten into the habbit of pre-making and freezing meals for the nights we are tight for time or tired. Some of the things we make on a regular basis in portioned sizes (i.e. metal pie plates or freezer bags)

1. Soups and stews... so many different kinds
2. Lasagna and pasta casserols
3. Roasted chicken or turkey cubes (perfect for adding to salads)
4. Sheppards pie
5. Meatballs
6. Spring rolls

I made and froze lasagna, enchiladas, and a couple chicken casseroles. Having frozen meals is awesome and totally worth the effort.

We started by cleaning out our freezer since it is a disaster zone (don't want to be killed by anything flying out at me!). I haven't cooked much, but have stocked up on about a dozen convenience meals from one of our fresh markets and frozen them.

I figure sooner or later I'll start freezing breast milk too and will need some space for that.

@chopsuey119: I think she meant meals for her and DH to eat after the baby arrives, rather than baby food.

I can't really prepare food and freeze it. Our freezer is 3 tiny drawers! Gotta love the British way of life :)

I've got 3 more months to go, and right now in the freezer waiting is 2 trays of cabbage rolls, 2 meat pies and a bunch of soup. I'm gong to keep adding to it, probably some pot pies, and chili

I love the idea of making and freezing food ahead of time, but I don't know what to make, except for chili and a tuna noodle casserole. If you froze food, what did you make?
