Raw zucchini is basically tasteless. No bugs so far. Everything else is in planter boxes. We do get bugs on the artichoke plant, it didn't produce anything last year so we are trying to be proactive this year to keep the bugs away. I obviously planted way too many and had to pawn some off on neighbors haha. I will say though that the zucchini plants really were a bug haven. If we didn't grab the zucchini at the optimal time because of vacation, it would start to rot, and I had a TON of stinkbugs laying eggs all over the leaves. We moved in a year ago and it was a jungle - it took me all spring to salvage the established plants that I wanted to keep and then plant up the areas I'd cleared - flowers, shrubs and herbs near the house (plus a little tomato patch) and a veg patch further down the garden. Unfortunately, we had the wettest summer in living memory last year and, veg wise, what didn't get washed away was eaten by a plague of slugs!
