I think about this often - would the way that I parent make me (as a child) happy and healthy in the short and the long term? That's the mark I try to hit.

I wonder this as well since their childhood is looking different than mine since they've been in day care since 4 months unlike me who had a SAHM who scheduled, all kinds of activities and classes for us. Mostly I wonder this when I've had a horrible day at work and take it out on them, boo hoo!

Sometimes I think about how wildly different I am from my own mother, and wonder what it will be like for LO to have me as a mom. My mom was a SAHM who threw herself completely into the raising of her children (to both good and bad effect). She didn't have any hobbies, and didn't socialize much. Even though we didn't get along from age 13 onward, I do know that she tried to do what she thought was best for all 3 of her kids.

I, on the other hand, will be a WOHM. I have 4 tattoos, I love to dye my hair black, and I listen to all sorts of child-inappropriate music! DH plays guitar and loves to have poker nights, and we both love going to concerts, day trips to other cities, and just doing things in general. I hope to be as dedicated to my LO as my mom was to us, but I know it will take very different forms.

Sometimes it really makes me wonder: what will her experience be like? Will she think I'm bananas? Will my tattoos embarrass her? Will she love that I have a travel bug and take her to all sorts of places? In many ways I am like my mom, but the many, many differences between how we did/will raise our children just blow my mind sometimes.

Does anyone else wonder things like this? :)
