@junebugsmama: The seat of the glider is actually pretty long, so if you were relaxing in it, it might work for you? I took a picture of DH testing it out and he was kind of slouching in it, and his head rested against the back (and he's 5'9"). I can send you the picture if you wall me your email address.

Wouldn't it be nice if there were just Land of Nod retail stores everywhere so you could try them out in person?!

@junebugsmama: I got it this past weekend, actually! You can schedule shipping on their website when you check out, and there was open availability starting about 4 days later. Two guys with a furniture truck delivered it and took it upstairs to the our nursery, unpackaged it, and had me check for scratches/imperfections. Overall a great experience... it's so comfy!

@raspberries: When does your glider come? I am trying to decide if I should get it still and have to hurry up before the sale ends! I really wonder about how high the back is. I want a nice glider SO badly and now I feel like I am more willing to spend more $$ since Ive spent a lot of time at night in the rocking chair. I have a ridiculous amount of pillows and blankets on that thing to make it more comfortable! But if I splurge on some Ive seen, they take like 3-4 mo!!! By that point my baby will be 7-8 mo old! Thats crazy to me. I know I should have got my sh** together sooner on this whole thing...

@raspberries: Yes, mine is a light gray color so I could definitely use it elsewhere (which was my plan as well). Mine is plush and comfy. It isn't huge but I can fit in it with my nearly 3yo sitting next to me for story time. I didn't use mine a lot for breastfeeding just because of logistics (mostly didn't want to sit in the nursery to nurse) but we get a lot of use out of it for rocking/story time!

@raspberries: we also have a teeny nursery and that's why I've held off. Especially since I wasn't sure where I'd be nursing him. Turns out I nurse him in the living room, bed, and in his nursery, but I spend enough time sitting on the rocking chair we have in the nursery that I still think we should get one! I just want to find a tall one that I can rest my head on, with a small foot print to avoid filling the room, and a decent price. Not too much to ask right? :silly:

@Amelieisme: Thanks! I'm hoping to get a neutral enough color that I can just move it to the living room/sun room when we're done having kids, because if I'm paying $800, I want to use it forever!

@Ginabean3: Good to know... there aren't any Land of Nod stores around here, but maybe Crate and Barrel would have some? Part of the reason we're looking at them is because they're so small... our nursery is teeny tiny!

I love how they look but I would say to go test them out if possible......I was about to get one and I found them to be narrow and shallow and not as comfy as they look. I guess it depends on what you're looking for! For reference I'm petite, 5"3 and 125lbs when not pregnant and I felt like it was too small for my liking. There's no way DH would be able to fit comfortably in one!

ETA: we ordered this one from PBK and it's much more comfortable! http://www.potterybarnkids.com/products/chareleston-convetible-rocker-warehouse-sale/?pkey=cfurniture-clearance-event&

I have one! I love it. I have the dylan and it has lasted us nearly 3 years/2 babies thus far with no signs of wear. When you get something on it, it wipes right off. They are pricey though so I still don't know if I'd do it again :silly:

I think it depends on how much you think you will use it. I honestly didn't use my glider much. I hated being trapped in the nursery when lo was eating and I spent most of my time on the couch with him instead, where I could still talk to DH or watch tv. We also started "drowsy but awake" putting him to sleep from the beginning, so I never had the long hours rocking that some moms and dads experience.

If I was going to invest a lot of money in something I would have bought a really great comfy rocking recliner for the living room instead, with a less expensive glider or rocker in the nursery for the middle of the night feedings.

LO is 2 years old, and we still use it every day to read books. It's just a comfortable chair and with twins on the way I see myself using it even more. Right now it's in a little flex space between the kids' rooms but someday we plan on putting it in the family room so hope to get many more years out of it. Head support is important since you will probably find yourself falling asleep in it. If you can afford the more expensive and it's less likely to give you a crick in the neck, totally worth it.

I think it depends on what's important to the person who will be using it most. For me, aesthetics trumped comfort and price. My husband wanted comfortable but I knew he wouldn't be using it so I didn't concede to his ugly choice! We spend a fair amount of time in the glider and it's comfortable enough but definitely not the most nursing friendly. If you want comfortable go for comfortable! My advice is to imagine what it would be like nursing in it - arm rest, where babies head will be, if there's a place for you to rest your head...
