@bisous: If he's nursing 3x plus getting 15 oz at daycare, that sounds like PLENTY. At 9 months, Xander was getting 18 oz at daycare and nursing twice (though his evening session, I doubt he was getting much).

@Adira: Hard to say how much she eats daily! I nurse her three times in addition to the three (and now four) bottles she drinks at daycare! Thanks for the Kellymom resource!

@lawbee11: I have thought about that. It is a possibility...I think the fact that she is on the smaller side and recently fell off her growth curve has me slightly worried! I literally have not even thought of supplementing this whole nine months, but that paired with her recent growth spurt that's got me thinking about it.

@Revel: Phew! I am glad I am not the only one dealing with this. Hoping it's a short term spike, for sure! I think I will be counting up my stash tonight to see how long it will last!

My EBF LO is nine months and has been eating so much more food! Just in like the last week. She has seemed to be nursing more but so far isn't taking more milk at daycare.

In your situation I would send more solids, and continue to send BM from the freezer - it might just be a short term spike - and you can add formula down the line if you really run out.

@bisous: I would probably introduce more solids first. 15-16 oz at daycare seems like plenty to me. Does your daycare tell you the times when they give her the bottles? Maybe they are mistaking her fussing for hunger when she's actually not that hungry? We had this issue with our daycare...they wanted me to send more milk because they're used to feeding FF babies (my LO is the only BF baby in her class). I told them I could split it up into more bottles with fewer oz, but I know she doesn't need more than I'm sending.

@bisous: How much milk do you think she's getting daily? If she's been fine on the amount she's been getting up until now, I would increase solids.

Check out: http://kellymom.com/nutrition/starting-solids/solids-how/

There's a chart that shows how much how much breast milk baby should get and what solids look like in there. Basically as baby gets older (past 6 months), breast milk intake stays the same while solids increase until they wean sometimes after 1 year.

@Adira: Thanks for your advice! This is what I was thinking but I am scared she just wants more milk. Not sure if formula will solve that problem either, though.

At this point in the game, I would probably just offer more solids. I don't think at 9 months, they would need to increase the amount of BM they take! I think Xander started eating more solids around 9-10 months, so I would increase that instead of supplementing with formula!

S has normally drank three 4 or 5 oz bottles a day at daycare. I have always sent four bottles just in case I had a long day at work or if she seemed like she was still hungry.

She has been eating more solids, crawling and just hit 9 months last week--and now she is going through all four bottles at daycare. Not to mention, she has finally officially fallen off her growth curve (doctor is not too concerned, but we are keeping an eye on it!). Do you think she is hitting a growth spurt or that she generally needs more breast milk during the day?

I ask because the fourth bottle I send to daycare is normally from my frozen stash. I pump twice a day (getting around 15-16 oz total) and have minimal time to add another session in, so the fourth bottle isn't really sustainable. I have already started to send more solids, but do you think I should begin supplementing with formula?

I hate to do it if I don't have to, but I also don't want to burn through my stash.

It won't last forever, but it feels like it will while you're in it. My only suggestions are you get any help you can (neighbors, family, church/friends) to give you a small break, and to be very, very nice to yourself during this period. NO, you do not need a clean house. NO, you do not need to cook a beautiful meal each night. All you need to do at this point is survive it.

Let you DH do some daddy time tonight and try to squeeze in a bit of you time! I just took my first bubble bath since IDK when last night and it felt glorious!

@Bookish: I think at that age, they are pretty gassy in general, but I did notice that Xander's gas seemed worse after I had spicy food, even if it was pretty mild. You could try limiting it and see if that seems to help! :)

Not sure what it was all about but it only lasted a couple of weeks and she cut it out by 9 weeks. Now I can actually put her in her swing and eat a meal. Hang in there!!!! Those early weeks are so tough. Hugs!!

Also, gas is the worst! I had to cut out spicy foods (even MILDLY spicy) because it gave Xander HORRIBLE gas. It sucked. :(

LO is almost 7 weeks old and has been going through a growth spurt for a few days now. She is constantly nursing, is taking crap naps (it's almost 2 and she has napped for a total of one hour) and her nighttime sleep went to hell.

I feel like I'm losing my mind. I'm sleep deprived, grumpy, teary, and I would love to have more than 5 mins to eat a meal before she screams at me. I finally understand what people meant when they said they were "touched out." I feel like a milk machine.

Dude, not to be blunt, but EFF those people. I am up 30ish pounds at 32 weeks and only wear form-fitting stuff and if somebody isn't showing at 8 months then THEY should be self-conscious, not YOU. Ugh! I am so over people thinking they can make snide comments about a beautiful pregnant woman's body. You are growing a baby -- making a human being! Why would you want to hide that shizz? It's gorgeous! And so are you. Rock that pregnant bod, lady. Screw those stupid people (not that your relatives are stupid, but those comments are just dumb). Everybody keeps asking me if I'm having twins and I want to die but then I come on here and see all the bump photos and I'm right on track and it makes me feel so much better. People just have no perspective -- or tact -- when it comes to the pregnant body and what it's "supposed" to look like.

Quick funny: At my friend's shower, she is the same exact time along as me (due 3 days after me), and another friend and I were talking about how she is barely showing at all, and I was joking that I felt like a big blob when I walked in. This friend goes, "Well, you and she have totally different body types. I mean, I don't think she's ever had an ounce of fat on her." I thought for a brief moment, "I should be offended." But I really wasn't lol. I just laughed.

@shopaholic: when I was trying to get back into shape, I bought Tracy Anderson's Post-Pregnancy DVD. At the beginning she said, "not too long ago, I was where you are now - I had gained almost 60lbs when I was pregnant with my son". I literally cried, haha.
I don't know why people choose pregnancy to be so cruel and competitive. If you and your baby are happy and healthy at the end, you win. That's all that matters.
Oh - and from the pictures you've put out there YOU LOOK AMAZING - like, supermodel amazing ;)

@rachiecakes: @mrs. wagon: Thanks ladies! Your replies literally brought a few tears to my eyes. Most definitely I appreciate having the bump and being pregnant. I wanted to so desperately while TTC and after my m/c and for the most part, I'm really proud of the bump! It's just the "statements" I get about the bump that I think are giving me a complex. And things just like what @mrs. wagon: said about selective memory! Like when my MIL and SIL say that SIL only gained 20lbs with baby #2. Then DH finally had to tell me, "yeah, but she definitely didn't only gain 20lbs with baby #1! How come they never mention that to you?!"

@mrs. wagon: it totally stinks, doesn't it? It was so hard for me to breastfeed and go back to work and pump, my supply was awful and I spent a lot of time and money on it and on top of it all, I wasn't losing any weight!
If someone had told me that I'd feel this good about myself now six months ago, I wouldn't have believed them.

@rachiecakes: totally agree with this. I was exclusively nursing with my first and didn't drop that last 5 lbs until over a year PP. This time around I'm exclusively pumping and I'm under pre pregnancy weight at 4 months PP. Everyone (and every pregnancy!) is different!!
