Yay congrats! My first apt was an orientation, probably the same type of thing. They had a midwife tell us about what to expect, the do's and donts of pregnancy, all about the hospital we'd be delivering at, etc. And we had to fill out lots and lots of paperwork.

Thank you both! It's a whirl wind right now for me, so I'll have my share of time spent on this board, I'm sure.... Especially since we aren't sharing our news with anyone (hoping everything goes well) until July so I'm hoping to make some 'bee" friends to talk with and get advice!

I am only "4 weeks" according to FF, so I was getting nervous that I was going in for them to teach me about giving birth ... That's the last thing on my mind ! lol I And I read that Drs. usually don't see you until you are atleast 8 weeks.... My appointment is next week....

Congratulations!!! Also, welcome to Hellobee, hope we see more of you around here!

We went in at just under 8 weeks. I met with a nurse who went over what you would do every time you come in (pee, weigh, bp). Then, hubs and I went into an office with the nurse and we discussed my medical history and what to expect over the next 9 months. She also gave us paperwork to fill out, registration for the hospital and more. We got the option of deciding then and there to do genetic testing or not, or we could wait.

After we spoke with the nurse, we met with a doctor (fully clothed) who talked to us about some of the same stuff. Then I had an internal ultrasound to check the baby and the heartbeat. Once that was done, we were done. It took about 2 hours.

Congrats!! :)
I didn't see a child birth educator.. I did sit with the nurse and we went through my family medical history, she asked about my birth plan, etc. (this happened at week 12 though).
I would just take prenatals and eat healthy!

I just found out I was Pregnant, got my BFP a few days ago. I just called my Gyno/OB where I probably sounded like an idiot on the phone because I have no idea what steps I need to take from here. This wasn't a "planned" baby per se, but we are super excited becuase if we would have waited until it "was right" we'd probably be childless forever lol

But the receptionist transferred me to an OB nurse who just asked my age and date of last period and then just told me that my first appointment is with a child birth educator, and that it will last between 1.5 to 2 hours and transferred me to the scheduler. Has anyone had to do this? What should I expect?

Also, any advice for me to what else I should be doing?
