I use a 5 all over. Once he gets older we'll probably go with a 2-3 on the sides but just haven't taken the time yet. I bought a kit and some thinning shears then watched a bunch of YouTube videos. I go for a subtle faux hawk that he can wear with or without product. His hair grows fast (like my husbands) so he needs a cut every 4 weeks. He's had 8?! So far. We used to take him to Dh's barber now we go to carnival cuts. The new girl is amazing and does a great job. We get the sides and back short with a lil length on top. He has a "big boy" haircut and DH tells the barber what numbers to use on the top and on the sides. I can't stAnd the bowl look either and I love how they cut it. I jokingly call it a "k-Pop" cut...it's short in the back and longer in the front. A lil long/floppy, but still short so it's out of his face. She'll buzz around the edges like his ear and around his neck to give it a clean look, but she'll scissor cut the rest of his head. It makes a world of diff when he gets a haircut. He looks so much cleaner when it's cut. Basically they always have the messy look, which I like. DH always tells me it needs to be combed to "train" it. For now, we go with the curls a bit messy. My mom trims it when it stars to get crazy. </p> <p>I am not a fan of the bowl look at all. At 3.5, I'd start getting a big boy hair cut. My nephew is 3.5 and has really straight hair.
