@Ree723: I was actually super surprised that he ended up losing them. I hope your girls avoid it, though I feel lucky that it took so long for them to stop popping off. There's almost been a whole new nail just behind or underneath the old ones.

@Adira: Oh no! I hadn't thought about them peeling! Ugh, that should be fun......

@gracecat: Thanks for the reassurance! I'm assuming we picked it up from playgroups, so maybe it's just going around at the moment! Glad it was a mild case for your DD but sorry to hear you got it as well! I'm hoping DH and I don't get it....touch wood!

@autumnlove: Oh no! Poor M :-( Hope she's feeling better soon!

@PurplePeony: That sounds very similar to how it's going for my LOs - I was hoping they'd clear up quicker than that, but with how nasty the blisters on DD1's bottom look, I can imagine they're still going to be around in a couple of weeks.

@Mrs Green Grass: Thanks for that! As we're on day three, I'm going to cross my fingers that we are done with the emergence of the new blisters!

@BananaPancakes: Oh no! He's still losing nails now?! Poor guy :-(. I haven't seen any spots near the girls nails so hopefully they don't lose any nails! On the plus side, they don't seem bothered by it in the slightest, even though it does look terrible!

Oh no, I am so sorry! We just went through it in April, and he's actually still losing nails right now.

He had a fever for about 3 hours on a Friday night, and by Saturday night the blisters had started popping up. He continued to blister through Tuesday and it took another week for it to start clearing up well. But he only felt bad for the first 3 days, really. And he started losing nails about 2 weeks ago. He'll probably finish losing them within the next couple of weeks.

I hope those little ladies have a less serious case of it and recover quickly!

I think blisters continued increasing for about 3 days. We had one day of high fever and then he was pretty much fine. They took forever to completely go away.

My DD had it a couple weeks ago, mostly in her diaper area and around her knees with just a few blisters on her hands and feet. DH said she had a few in her mouth but I could never see them. Anyway, the first day she just got a bunch of little red dots -- it was super hot that day so I actually thought it might be a heat rash -- and the second day, some of the dots became blisters. The third day, nothing much changed but a couple of the blisters on her feet seemed to get a bit bigger. After that, the dots that hadn't turned into full-on blisters started to fade but she still has some marks on her knees and butt, after two weeks. I'm hoping they aren't scars and that they're just taking awhile to fade...

LO 2 has it too! She was fever free all week (since last Sunday) but blisters popped up yesterday. She had it last summer and it was a very mild case and blisters popped up for 2-3 days.

Awww, I know you feel bad but honestly you didn't mean any harm. Hope nothing comes of it though. Our DD had a mild form, I believe. A mild fever for an evening, followed by blisters for a couple days on her arms/legs but none in the mouth thankfully. It didn't seem to bother her in the least but it bothered me because then I got it (again very mild, just spots on my arms/legs). We were confined to the house and were going stir crazy! But they were fine by the end of one week.

Xander had HFM with no fever and no blisters in the mouth. He had blisters all over his body, aggravating his eczema, and then they burst and peeled, but otherwise, didn't bother him. Before they were completely gone, it was probably a few weeks!

I think both of my LOs have HFM, in fact, I'm 99% sure they do, but they haven't had any fevers or been out of sorts really, it's only the blisters that make me think HFM. LO2 had a crap night's sleep on Thursday night but we just chalked that up to a fluke as she was perfectly happy and fine other than that. Saturday afternoon, whilst changing LO1, I noticed a large, angry blister on her bottom, with several smaller ones nearby, no where else. I then checked LO2 and noticed a few on her heels and a couple of small ones on her bottom as well.

Sunday, LO1's bottom was absolutely covered with blisters (but they don't seem to bother her) and they are now all over her knees, with some extending down to the tops of her feet and a few on the bottom. LO2's bottom had mostly cleared up but she now has them on her knees, soles of her feet, and a few on the palm of her hands. Today, Monday, LO1's seem to be about the same and I don't know yet about LO2 as she's still sleeping. Can I assume we are through the worst and any blisters that were going to appear are now here?

Anyone else go through HFM like this where your LO was perfectly fine, no fever, and just had the spots? I am feeling super guilty about not knowing they had this, (although the rational side of my brain says they had no symptoms, how was I supposed to know?) as we went to playgroups all last week and were in contact with some awfully young babies there. I can't even contact anyone to let them know as these groups run only once per week and are run by parent volunteers! I really hope none of the babies get sick, I'll feel so awful... :bummed:
