@travellingbee: I am right there with you with everything you said!! My reflux has been awful lately and I'm beyond uncomfortable. Had my 36 week appt today. I'm almost 2 cm dilated but cervix is still very high and closed. If baby doesn't come before, I will likely be induced 12/29. We are in the home stretch my friend!!!

Bumping this very old thread because I just needed to vent about how crappy I feel right now at 36 weeks. Baby is still so high and my ribs hurt. My back and feet and hands are killing me. I have terrible reflux, and most of all I am BEYOND exhausted. Like I feel like I have to prop my eyes open. I only have 9 more days of work and I am stressed about how much I have to get done, but don't have the energy to do. :( Ugh-- this last month is the worst!

I heard cold brewing coffee can reduce the acidity of coffee. DH had to reduce the acidic foods he had but loved coffee. I searched and read online that it helps. DH ended up having to pretty much cut it out of his diet and now drinks tea instead.

@blackbird: ooh really? That sounds like exactly what I was looking for

@Mrs. Oatmeal: yes, I love those! I'd drink them every single day except I feel guilty sometimes about the stevia (though sometimes I do just go for it... moderation right? I am a huge stevia/truvia fan whilst non-preg).

@Tanjowen: have heard so many good things about that tea lately and we have one less than 5 minutes away...

Have you tried the Lime refreshers from Starbucks? They're like an iced tea, but don't taste like tea (if that makes sense). I know they sell them both in store and in the Instant Via packs- might be worth a try if the acid in tea gets to you too.

I've been drinking more tea too.

most black tea is still too acidic for me, but I really like Constant Comment (Bigelow brand) with honey. It's flavored with cloves and orange peel and smells delicious. I usually make a big mug and stir in honey while it's still hot.

I tried Chai and the spices made my heartburn way worse.

When I was pregnant I did a lot of McDonald's sweet tea, which normally I would not be into, but it was really smooth and not acidic and over lots of ice it hit the spot in the summer. I also got into British style milky tea - a cup of strong PG Tips with a splash of whole milk and a spoonful of sugar. I drank that all the time. Maybe chai/iced chai would work too? The milk always helped soothe the acid in the caffeine for me.

With my son and this pregnancy I have always consumed about a cup of coffee per day. Now, @ 33 weeks my morning coffee is giving me horrible heartburn/reflux. I want to substitute something but am not sure what.... Don't really want to do soda or anything else really sugary & I don't love the taste of iced tea or green tea... Is anything left?! Some kind of fruity tea?

Of course I could abstain until the end butttttt considering my sweet little two year old has been waking before 6 (thanks big boy bed) I would love any ideas. Thank you!!

Are heartburn and reflux considered the same thing? If so, then yes, it was true for me. I had terrible reflux with both of my girls (I seriously lived on Tums for the last half of my pregnancy each time) and both girls had an incredible head of hair. I could have pulled DD1's hair up into a ponytail after birth had I wanted to, that's how much hair she had; DD2 had slightly less but still more hair than most babies have at a year.
