Not with dinner. Sometimes if I'm busy in the kitchen I'll put him at the table with a couple toys but he doesn't last long, he likes to move around! But if I'm cooking or baking I can't have him crawling through the kitchen, too dangerous. So he just has to get over it sometimes :-P

She doesn't eat dinner with us yet, so when she sits in the high chair for food, that's all she gets. However, sometimes I put her in the high chair in the kitchen to play while I'm cooking or cleaning up and she gets toys then.

definitely! My 11 month old won't eat without "toys" to occupy her. She's clamp her mouth shut tightly and point at what she wants. It's kinda funny. But her meal toys are a water bottle, tupperware lid, a package of saltines. And like others said--it all ends up on the ground.

My husband started giving her bottles in front of the TV so that she will sit still and focus while she takes her milk. So hoping that doesn't turn into a tv obsession.

I give her toys to keep her occupied while I get her food ready, and when she's finished eating and I'm cleaning up. Sometimes I sit her in her highchair with a few toys while I do dishes so she can be in the room with me without having to worry about what she's doing.

I give her "toys" which are a yogurt container lid, a textured rice scooper, and a tupperware lid. Those are good enough for her!

No, we don't give him toys because he's usually covered in food! If we want him to hang out while we eat we will give him a dried apricot to suck on or his sippy cup that he loves to play with.

No, the spoon is all he needs to play with...it is the most interesting thing in the world! I've never thought about it before, but he gets toys when we go out to eat, but not at home. Hmmmm...

Yep, at the beginning when we were trying to establish family meal time, she wasn't eating much or not eating solids yet so she would sit with us and play while we ate. Now that she is getting older she eats with us (and sometimes plays with her spoon!)

When babysitting my nephew, I only gave him toys if I felt like getting things thrown at my head! Little stinker has quite the arm.

I never really saw an issue with it besides trying to keep the toys clean. It helped keep her with us at the table longer!

Our lo sits with us at dinner every night now. We do some purees but she is more interested in eating her bib or the spoon than actually eating the purees. We give her some toys to play with when she's obviously not interested in her food anymore. She loves stacking cups - and throwing them! :)

Do you put toys on your lo's high chair tray?
