I really like the laid back style (they lay essentially stomach to stomach and I leaned back). We also did cross cradle and football depending on what was happening.

Sitting up straight with cross cradle. I am really not able to get a hang of the lying down position at all, especially since I have a forceul let down and at any minute milk may start spraying everywhere

We did cross cradle when she was teeny tiny because I was uncomfortable holding her neck up with cradle. We tried the laid back position but that didn't ever take. Now, at almost 6 months, my favorite is just cradle and laying down (at night). That laying down position is AMAZING when you're exhausted.

Side-lying, but only at night because I always end up falling asleep with him (which isn't a bad thing, but I usually have a list of things I need to do). During the day cradle hold with a Boppy.

Currently cross cradle with the boppy; hoping that once DS can hold his head up we'll be able to switch to cradle and lose the boppy. Right now if I have to nurse sans boppy I end up with sore nipples because DS pulls on them and latches shallow.

Cradle hold - usually in a reclined position - either laying back on the couch or in bed... We sit up more sometimes but I have a strong letdown so laying back seems to help LO not choke on too much milk.

I do the cradle hold, but once he's latched I lean pretty far back in my recliner, so I kind of end up like that, except still holding him across my chest, so I can still use my boppy! It seems to help him not choke on the milk

I can now that Sawyer is older, but as a newborn he would have suffocated on my boob (I have H cups boobs) I suspect it is better for smaller busted mommies. I also have very flat (borderline) inverted nipples, so I had to be more active in getting him latched.

i'm still brand new at this (LO is 1 week old), but i find that football hold works best for us. she hates laying on her side, so the cradle/cross-cradle doesn't work and this reclining position only worked once or twice because her neck control isn't strong enough and she gets all frustrated if we can't get a latch right away because her little face gets smushed.

We sort of morph into that position sometimes now that she moves all over the place. I feel like we're a circus team nursing at all angles anymore, she's rolling around and flopping all over, then looking for the boob again!

I agree, football was the best for me when she was brand new. I also found that because I'm left handed, I hold her in football for my left side, and cross cradle for my right side so that my left hand is the one supporting her most of the time.

The laid back position for me was SO good for me when I was having trouble breastfeeding. It was the only way I could get her to latch on when it didn't hurt. I usually only did it on the couch, thus during the day.

I read what Mrs. Bee said and honestly, I never had a problem being tired when feeding M. It wasn't easy for me, so I stayed wide awake when feeding her. No chance of falling asleep. Now that she's older, we do the lying down in bed feedings overnight and that is amazing and YES I worry about falling asleep in that position!
