Well, I had intentions of starting early but then before I knew it she was 6 months sooooo that didn't work out well.

BUT, it worked in my favor in the end b/c LO HATES reheated food. Everything has to be fresh cooked--exceptions are made though if I melt butter in with reheating. Oy.

After we started solids. I think it's only good for a month in the freezer, and they only eat tiny amounts at first. I just made it as we went for the first couple weeks (banana, avocado, sweet potato, etc) in small amounts. After maybe two weeks I mad some bigger batches for the freezer. Now she eats about 4 ounces at dinner, and I can just pop out 1 ounce cubes of whatever.

1/2 white vinegar, 1/2 water (or thereabouts...I don't measure) in a spray bottle, use newspaper to wipe it off or just a dry paper towel. (I use the latter now that we don't get a hard copy of the newspaper anymore and it works fine until the towel starts to get soggy.)

Also, I don't use hairspray, so I only have toothpaste to contend with. :)

@artbee: borax, washing soda and oxiclean! Here is the blog I got it from and I LOVE it! Somewhere in the comments they say it's essentially the same thing as Charlie's Soap and the basic components of RockinGreen (which we used at first but didn't work with our hard water in the end). The homemade worked the best for us after trying a few CD safe detergents...no stinks, no residue buildup, no stains and the diapers always looked fresh and new!

@artbee: I found a similar recipe, but instead of the fels-naptha, I used Ivory. Only because I use Ivory bar soap when I shower, and that's just what I had on hand. Plus I love the scent of it, kind of a fresh scent!
