One culprit might be the sugar in the chocolate cherry yogurts, granola bars, and fruit. All those things sound absolutely delicious, but from my own experience, sweet foods make me extra hungry -- perhaps that's what's going on with you, too? That, and it seems like for many starting in the second trimester (or a bit sooner than that in my case), being pregnant just makes you hungrier than normal! I love granola and cereal, but have been staying away from both because neither satisfy at all in pregnancy (I could literally eat a box of either). I've been toying around with lots of food combos - a spinach and (pasteurized) feta omelet for breakfast or a high protein/low sugar smoothie make me feel really satisfied for longer. Big salads with lots of beans (I'm a veggie) and no bread for lunch and snacks consisting of raw nuts (I love raw pecans) and a piece of fruit a couple of times a day are my go-to's (if I eat fruit by itself I swear I'm hungry again 20 minutes later). I've found when I eat this way I don't get nearly as crazy-hungry during the day. But, we all have hungry days!

Ditto on the fat consumption. Fat and protein was the name of the game for me. I needed a deep fatty breakfast every morning on my way to work - McMuffin or breakfast burrito of some sort with meat, cheese, and eggs, plus a decaf with lots of half and half. I probably had another snack mid-morning and then was ravenous for lunch, which was often again some meat heavy thing like a roast beef sandwich. I really, really loved beef during pregnancy and I ate a lot of dairy. Cheese sticks, cold whole milk at night, some ice cream, yogurt...

I ate a lot of fruit, but other sweets like dessert really didn't appeal to me.

I think maybe I do just need a heartier breakfast... Or maybe it's just that my appetite is returning? It's just crazy because I feel ravenous even while I'm eating!

After my morning sickness lifted I. was. so. hungry. I instituted "second breakfast" as a regular meal every day and that helped. I would try putting some protein earlier in your day. The yogurt is yummy, but as you noted, you're hungry again so soon!
Luckily my ravenous appetite subsided after about 4-5 weeks and I was back to a normal meal schedule. Except I still often need a morning snack to get to lunchtime, just not a full "second breakfast".

For me, it's all about fat consumption. First trimester, I was absolutely insatiable when it came to healthy (and unhealthy) fats. I'm almost in the third trimester now, and it's coming back. My usual breakfast is pretty low fat, and today I was starving again after just an hour.

We are close on our due dates, but I think I'm the opposite - I barely want to eat at all :( It's 9.30 and all I've had is a cup of tea and 2 pieces of dry toast. I probably won't touch anything else til lunch time - a piece of left over home-made pizza, and I don't even want to think about what to cook for dinner. I'm off food big time.

Title says it all.
I am so hungry today. I've had quite the decrease in appetite til now with nausea until about 6 weeks (starting since before I knew I was pregnant which I attributed to stress). I lost 5 pounds which is not a lot but which had been just impossible to lose before getting pregnant. I'm 8 weeks now and it looks like I'm on the upswing of things though in terms of appetite now though... I can't stop eating today!!!

Makes me wonder, am I eating the wrong things or is my body remembering we like food again?

9am: small cherry chocolate yogurt
9:30: another small cherry chocolate yogurt bc the first was sooo good
10am: small coffee with extra cream
11am: clementine to ward off car sickness
12pm: ooh lunch time! finallly! Ham (roasted at home) and cheddar sandwhich with 1/2 tomato and 1/2 avocado
4pm: yogurt granola bar
4:30: 1/2 cup of strawberries & kumquots (small oranges)
5pm: Another granola bar bc I have nothing left in my "lunch sack" and raided the snack bin at work.
(plenty of water throughout)

I'm leaving work in about an hour and am so looking forward to dinner. Yum Yum Yum!

p.s. I surely hope this doesn't read as a "diet" post, it's not what I'm going for but man, is it normal to be this hungry All. Day. Long.

I've been making a delicious salad lately--mixed baby greens with herbs, habenero bbq-flavored almonds, chopped chicken, baby shrimp, shelled edamame, diced cucumber, and orange miso sesame dressing! It's SO good, and since I use mostly frozen/ convenience foods and bottled dressing it's super-easy!

My DS is 3 months 1 week and doing the same thing. At first I was mystified as the boob has always been the miracle cure for any time he was crying and now he gets really upset when i try to give it to him. But it turns out he doesn't want the breast in the same way any more. Not only has his hunger cues changed (or even disappeared) but he doesn't need to eat more than every two hours at most, often going 3+ hours between meals and when he eats it takes max 10 minutes. If i try to feed hi before he gets really annoyed. It seems the 45 minute nursing sessions of his newborn days are long gone!

DS also chews his hands all the time and even makes chewing motions, none of which means he's hungry. Now I keep an eye on the time and if it's 2 hours or more since the last feed and he seems fussy or restless I offer him the breast.

This sounds so hard. I know it may be near impossible, but trying to really follow his hunger cues will be exactly as much as he needs. It sounds like his weight gain is really good, so you really have no cause for excess concern. You're doing a wonderful job of feeding him.
