@CatchAFallingStar: Hi! I feel absolutely wonderful now. Completely healed. I've been on hormone therapy since I woke up from surgery. My mental health is actually so much better and more controlled.
I had both ovaries, my cervix and my uterus removed. It was laparoscopic vaginal hysterectomy. I'd had my tubes removed about 4 years ago or they would have been removed too.
I definitely recommend it if it's needed.

@Crisark: hi! I’m wondering how you’re feeling now and if you’re glad you had the hysterectomy. Also, how did your pathology reports come back? Have you noticed any change in your mental health as far as depression and anxiety? I have both now and my psychiatrist said they’d improve with hysterectomy but everything I read online says the exact opposite!

ETA: I see you also commented on my post. Thank you!

@MrsSCB: Hi! I was not aware at all that I had endometriosis. So it was a huge shock. I felt good yesterday and absolutely over did it. I'm paying for that today. Hoping for the pathology report soon. It's all very overwhelming.

@Crisark: I hope you're feeling OK today, and that everything is benign! Did you know you had endometriosis before this, or is this the first time you were told that? One of my good friends has endo, I know it can be miserable. I'm so sorry, I know this must be an overwhelming experience.

@muffinsmuffins: @pastemoo: Hi ladies! Today is day 3 post Hysterectomy. I'm feeling more like me today. I had a rough day/night yesterday but thankfully so far today is better.
The Dr was able to perform it all laparoscopic/vaginally. However everything had to come out. So thrust into menopause I was. They've already started me on hormones to combat it.
What was found though was Stage 3 endometriosis as well as cyst's on essentially everything. So all things were sent to pathology to check for cancers.
Time for some more medicine and a nap. Thank you all again so much for checking in.

@muffinsmuffins: So he remembers his mom having a terrible time healing. And his parents fighting more likely bc of the hormones. Thankfully things have changed so much since his mom had hers.
@pastemoo: I had the endometrial ablation I believe. I had my hysterectomy yesterday. They did have to remove my ovaries. Said everything had some kind of fibroid or mass on them. She didn't have to bikini cut me though. All laparoscopic/vaginal thankfully.

@Crisark: I was randomly googling last night after replying to your post and came across several support type groups for husbands of those who have had hysterectomy. At first I was rolling my eyes like WTF the man needs support after his wife went though the damn surgery?!? But now I think I understand it’s more the hormonal changes and whatnot that affect the relationship. What does your husband remember from that time?

@foodiebee: @muffinsmuffins: @Mrs. Champagne: thank you all for commenting!! I appreciate the positivity. I will absolutely come back and update. And I will check that blog out! I also found the website Hystersisters which I'm trying to navigate as well. My husband is really really worried it's going to change 'us'. He has terrible childhood memories of his mother and her hysterectomy and recovery. I've tried to ease his worries and remind him that that was 30yrs ago. But now he's got me worried something with change within 'us' and I'm grateful for our relationship. I don't want anything like that to change. So for sure have a bunch of things going through my head.

I’m still waiting on the final verdict but I may also be heading for a hysterectomy next year due to 2 years of fibroids that just keep getting out of control. I’m only 35. I’ve tried it all and I want a solution but it is a weird feeling. I haven’t been pregnant, my wife gave birth to our kids and we are 10000% not having anymore kids. But as I’ve been thinking about the possibility, I am feeling sad about it in a way. That part of me will (potentially) be gone forever. I’m still not sure that will be the way it goes but my gyn is referring me to a surgeon for complex cases due to locations and sizes of these fibroids. So I understand your feelings and they are valid. I hope your outcome is good and your recovery is smooth. Update if you feel comfortable as I would love to hear your experience.

A friend of mine had to have everything removed at 35 for medical reasons. Menopause did hit her, but she's been able to do pretty well with it. Fingers crossed for you that you have a similar experience and all goes well! I think having lots of emotions about something like that is entirely normal.

My situation is different because I have to have mine out as preventative measures due to a genetic disorder. I am allowed to wait until I’m done having kids but will need everything out in the next couple years, no later than 35.

No advice, just that I understand the fear and it’s completely rational. Many women in my family have gotten it done and some have had absolutely no side effects from menopause so there is some hope. I can’t imagine how much harder it is to have it sprung on you though! Hugs ❤️

So it has been a loooong time since I've posted. However I've lurked the whole time 😏
But after two months of repeated 'UTI's, I was able to have an internal ultrasound and discovered that I hadn't been suffering from UTI's at all but rather I've had a baseball sized mass within my uterine wall, a golf ball sized mass in my cervix and masses on at least one of my ovaries likely two years.
I know possibly two years bc two years ago this past March I had a uterine ablation and at that time my ultrasound was normal.
So, after waiting more than a week with no idea how to interpret my ultrasound results, I met with my Gynecologist who immediately said we needed to get things out of there.
She said 'it can't kill you if it's in a jar' and while I laughed bc she's right and I love her and her bedside manner. I'm still not feeling any better about it three weeks after making the decision to have a Hysterectomy.
Now I was already 100% done having children, I mean I had my tubes removed four years ago and then two years ago had my ablation. So making babies wasn't a thing for me anymore. But once I knew I would be removing possibly all of the parts of me that made and housed all three of my daughters, I just haven't made peace with it.
We have a running joke that I'm having my baby condominium removed. And joking around about how angry my uterus is so it's gotta go.
But. I'm only 38. I just don't feel old enough.
And if we aren't able to leave one of my ovaries I'll immediately be thrown into menopause. That in itself is terrifying.
But no matter how I still feel about it, I'm scheduled for surgery in one week.

I'm not entirely sure anyone will be active on these boards that are or have been in this part of their reproductive life. But if you are or have experience how did you cope? How did you heal? How have you dealt with menopause? I guess I just want to know I'm not alone in this at this age.
