@MrsADS: @cyoung: That's good to know that the labors progressed quickly, after all those practice contractions with an IU. My second labor was extremely fast, with baby being born just 30 minutes after arriving at the hospital, it was so chaotic. They keep telling me to come in ASAP at the first signs of labor, such as my waters breaking, which it did for the first two. We also live a good bit away from the hospital and if we're stuck in rush hour traffic, I'll legit be worried about a car labor.

Yeah today is day two of this for me. It looks like I'll be dealing with this again this pregnancy. I will talk with my doctor next appointment just so he is in the loop. I have a new one this time around. @pinkb that sounds like how mine went. I was induced but had contractions constantly.
@mrsads I was induced with both kids but I also had short labors. They would have to turn pitocin off due to me dilating so fast.

During my 3rd pregnancy I had a lot of contractions that had me worried, although my midwife never diagnosed it as irritable uterus. Starting around 26ish weeks I had timetable contractions anywhere from 4 minutes to 8 minutes apart. Stress definitely made it worse and going to sleep was the only thing that seemed to make them stop. I downloaded an app to time them and most days it would say head to the hospital they we so regular. But my dr/ midwife was not concerned since there was no other symptoms like blood or discharge or anything. My first cervical check at 37 weeks showed no dialation even though I had constant contractions. It made me a bit more on edge since I went into labor with DD1 at 32 weeks but delivered baby 3 by induction at 39+3.

Me, although I also had some cervical changes (shortening/thinning) starting about 22-24 weeks so I was monitored for preterm labor and had weekly vaginal ultrasounds to measure my cervix. But neither kid was born preterm (I had the same issue with both). CONSTANT contractions, often frequent and semi painful.

The good (I guess?) news is, with both, I had EXTREMELY rapid labors -it was like my body knew well what to do and just expelled those babies super fast. 6 hours from water breaking to baby (with epidural), 1 hour from water breaking to baby (no epidural).

@SupernovaJ: omg that's literally what I felt with with my daughter. Its sucks so much! Some days it's just a long constant contraction where my stomach stays hard all day no matter what I do. Then I would have days (especially when I got further along) that I would have contractions some as close as 2-5 minutes for hours. My cervix never dilated. I'm hoping it doesn't happen this pregnancy but I dont think I'm going to be so lucky. This is my third pregnancy as well.

I have been dealing with IU nonstop this pregnancy. It's my third time being pregnant and while I had some pretty intense braxton hicks contractions with my last two pregnancies in the third trimester, this is on a different level.

Starting at 32 weeks, my stomach started to get rock solid in the late afternoons until pretty much bed time, without any breaks in between. It made eating and generally doing anything standing up impossible! A slightly full bladder, getting up to walk, any chores, etc. would make it worse. Again, my stomach would be rock solid for hours. My midwives/OB checked me to make sure I wasn't dilating and luckily at 32 weeks I wasn't, but did conclude that my uterus is irritable and angry, lol. I'm now 35 weeks and it's still going strong. I did lots of my own research online and it seems to be triggered when I don't drink as much water (or I'm on my feet too long / too active), so I've been forcing myself to drink 100+ fl oz a day. It's been tough but I've noticed the symptoms do get slightly better if I drink more water. The only thing that makes them go away significantly is to lie down on my side, but I'll still wake up to pee or get up in the morning and find it's rock solid again.

The idea of going to 40 weeks feeling this way makes me want to cry, lol. Kuddos to you for surviving. My OB joked that I'll have one long contraction from 32 weeks until baby is out. Feels accurate for sure, but not funny!

I’ve never heard of an irritable uterus but I had prodromal labor in my 3rd trimester with my second pregnancy. It was annoying and exhausting (it was hard to sleep) but reminding myself that according to my midwives they were helping to prepare me for labor helped. They didn’t do anything for my cervix (I wasn’t dilated at all) but my labor was SUPER fast and easy. With both, Braxton Hicks started around 13 weeks. Making sure to drink plenty of water was helpful. I drank raspberry leaf tea throughout my 3rd trimester and it always brought on contractions for an hour or 2, so if I wanted to avoid them I’d just not drink the tea that day. Exercise is a nice distraction too.

Has any other ladies dealt with this? I had it when I was pregnant my daughter. With her starting at 30 weeks I started having contractions. Sometimes they irregular and sometimes were very regular. None changed my cervix and I was induced at 40 weeks. It was just painful at times and annoying cause nothing made them stop most times. Well I'm 26 weeks and I'm afraid they have started up again. The past week I've gotten more and more Braxton hick like contractions. Today it's been going on nonstop. There is no rythem to them. I will be telling my doctor about it my next appointment. I was just wondering if any other ladies have felt with this and what were some things that helped you?
