Sounds like a great idea to me, and I'm sure parents of the other kids will be happy not to have two birthday party obligations so close together. (We recently had 4 birthday party invites over 2 weekends.)

I've been to one and it wasn't weird at all even though the guest lists only overlapped about 50%.

Not weird! I've been to joint non-sibling parties. If guest list is pretty much the same on both sides then why not!

I would be all over this! Less parties to go to ... more weekend time to do other things. :)

My DD had a joint bday party with a friend in her girl scout troop. It was perfect because it was the same group of girls and our families shared the cost/tasks. I think parents appreciate reducing the # of parties..

Not weird! I've been to 2 joint bday parties. Both times, I only knew 1 of the kids (most of the kids were their school friends) and it wasn't weird at all.

We are doing this in a few weeks! We are good friends with the other family, the girls parties are always on the same weekend, and the guest list overlaps by like 85%. Doing a joint party mean less cost for the host families, and less time commitment for the guests. Win/Win!

I think it sounds awesome!

ETA: I'm already overwhelmed with school "friend" parties -- we got 2 invites over the last week to 2 separate parties. I don't know how we'll go to 24 of them!

Our neighbors did this. She said the other class parents loved it. One less party to fit into a weekend.

Not weird!

Two (non-sibling) kiddos in my LO's daycare class had a joint party for their second birthdays. I thought it was a great idea. Fewer weekend obligations FTW! And it was easier on both mamas because they split the duties.

So, I was finally able to get the wheels in motion to do my son's first "friends" party this year (turning 5) and a friend of mine, whose daughter is in the same class as my son, suggested that we do their party together, since all the kids seem to go to the events.

My son was on board with it, but I am worried that some parents might think it's weird...am I over-caring? FWIW, we'd be having the event at a kids activity place and we'd be splitting the cost, plus probably paying a surcharge for having more kids than included in the package (which I am totally fine with, there are 11 kids in total in my son's class).
