@shopaholic: Re: Thermometers - Our hospital had a great temporal one that they would just swipe across the forehead. I saw one at a store for less than $30 and am so tempted to get it...more for DH than for LO!

@Arden: Thanks for the list! I think I've got most of it covered (bought myself for a good deal or they're already purchased/on the registry). Might add the ear thermometer (so far just have a rectal one.)

@MaisyMay: Oh yes, I know! I got the Ergo because it's supposed to be better at not getting hip dysplasia.

Check out the go-pod. It is $50ish. We have bouncers and jumpers but I'm considering it for when we go camping and for sticking in the kitchen or bathroom once they are mobile. It folds up pretty small, which would be way nicer for day to day storing than our massive jumperoo.

@shopaholic: Hip Dysplasia is what a lot of people are concerned about. It can come from exersaucers, jumperoos, etc. People don't seem to realize that it can also come from wearing baby improperly in a carrier too.

Let me think what I have in that price range on my registry.

@travelingbrit: I had to get rid of the guest bed that was in the nursery, there just wasn't room! But I have been trying out the rocker & glider and dang that thing is comfy! We have another guest bedroom next to the nursery, so I will sleep in there if need be.
@prettylizy: Oh I can't imagine DH being okay with that! We even have blackout curtains for him in the master! But we do have enough space in our room for the UBV bassinett & the Snugabunny Swing in case I need the baby in our room. I know my BFF's baby slept more in her swing than her PnP the first several months!

@shopaholic: My DH is a terrible sleeper too, I ended up kicking him out of our room for 3 weeks when she was a newborn and he slept in the guest room! I wanted her in our room (in the bassinet from our Britax or our PnP) until we hit our groove. We also had the SnugABunny swing in our room for a few weeks because she sleps the most in that thing and I needed the rest.

@shopaholic: Good luck! Hopefully your LO does better with the crib than Benji. Since our nursery was our guest room, we kept the queen bed in there temporarily. I've been sleeping in there with him so that SO can get some sleep and I can wake during the night.

@banana: I vaguely remember hearing about how they are not good for the hips and legs too! No, I was just trying to fill a price-point gap in our registries, . I think I will add the RnP if we need to closer to the shower.

I think I will have to consider a bouncer/jumperoo more and talk to the ped about it as well.

@MamaMoose: @travelingbrit: Sounds like a good reason to have the RnP, but for now, I'm hoping we can stick to the baby sleeping in her nursery. DH works crazy long hours and is a pitifully light sleeper. I just can't imagine him getting any rest at all if we have the baby in our room. :(

@travelingbrit: My ped recommended against it because she's seen many babies with hip/joint problems due to jumpers. I don't know the specifics but she mentioned something about how jumpers cause the babies to put too much pressure on their toes, which isn't natural and is bad for development. She said they're ok as long as your baby doesn't spend too much time on it (no more than 10 minutes at a time, a few times a day). If you're going to use it sparingly, it should be ok though! If we received one as a gift, I might use it sparingly but I'm not planning to go out and buy one myself.

We didn't get a jumper because our ped recommended against them. But we are thinking about getting an exersaucer so that my DD can spend a few minutes in it while I prepare dinner and stuff. So I would say nay to the jumper for now. Can you buy some of this stuff later on or did you want to take advantage of your registry completion discount?

We bought a bouncer and swing. Thought the rock and play was redundant. Benji hates the bouncer.

I saw the rock and play on sale for $30 on amazon and decided to buy it and check it out since returns are free.

I AM IN LOVE. So is benji. He sleeps so much better in it than the crib and I can put it right next to the bed. I drag it to the living room during the daytime and will set him in it if I need my hands free to check the mail, put dinner in the oven etc.

Like maisymay and mamamoose said its great to take with you if you are visiting others. Personally I would skip the bouncer and get the rnp instead.

@shopaholic: we have a snugabunny swing, rock n play and bouncer and they ALL get used. LO sleeps in the Rock N Play at night next to our bed. And we bring it with us to friend's houses so she has a place to nap or just chill out. The swing we use during the day when I'm doing stuff downstairs. She loves to hang out in there and watch the mobile. And then I use the bouncer if I want to be able to move her around. For instance she sits in it while I shower and get ready in the morning. She has reflux so the bouncer is awesome because it keeps her upright.

I have the snugabunny swing and bouncy chair. Both have got a ton of use. At one point we had the swing and bouncy chair in our bedroom. DS is 12 weeks and still sleeps in the bouncy chair at night. I liked that it vibrates. It's also nice because its easy to carry it from room to room.

@shopaholic: I will say that the r'n'p is very portable and light, so if you plan on taking baby to grandparents' houses or friends for a longer visit, that might be worth it. DH's parents live about an hour away, and we'll do to their place for several hours, and this way LO has a familiar place to nap and rest.

@MaisyMay: @TurtleDoves: Thanks. Someone has already purchased the activity gym mat off the registry (one of the first things to go!)

How is the rock & play much different than the swing? If we already got a SnugaBunny Swing too?
Also, aren't the jumperoos kind of bad for their legs & hips? I'm glad to hear they fold up flat and the price range does seem like a good fit for what we're missing. I will definitely look more into that Fisher Price one!

The rock and play is pretty much just for lounging and/or sleep. The play-mats are good...although my LO hates laying down so for us he will probably only use the door jumper and once I buy it, a Fisher Price jumperoo.
All of the Fisher Price jumperoos fold up and can fit into a pretty small closet! I was dead set against them because I didn't want to clutter my house but now that I see they fold so well, I am going to grab one next time I am around a BRU (closet one is 30min away).
And they are moderately priced in my opinion, can't get them for less anywhere else). There is one model that is $82.

I'm having a bit of a hard time with keeping moderately priced items on our BRU registry. Most of what I want is on our Amazon registry, but I know BRU is the fave for most people, especially last-minute shoppers.

I wasn't planning on getting a bouncer or jumper thing. Do you think they're really a worthwhile item for the price and space it takes? We don't really have any doorways we can put a bouncer in (our house is pretty open-concept) except for room doorways. I also didn't register for a Pack & Play, just the Baby Bjorn Travel crib.

So I guess my post is 2 parts:
1) Bouncer/Jumper - yay/nay? If yay, any recs?
2) Any suggestions for "moderate priced" gear/registry items ($40 to under $100)?
