How old is your LO? DD used to get stuff like that - it almost looked like varicose veins and it never seemed to bother her and she didn't act any different so we didn't do anything about it. They eventually went away.

BTW - I <3 the leg chub!!

My 3 month old has had these purple splotches / dots on his legs for the past couple weeks. They are more like a skin discoloration than a rash.

He seems perfectly happy and healthy. A quick Google search tells me they might be petechiae but then all the random posts / info I find about that occurring in infants is the scary fear-mongering "you should take your baby to the ER NOW!" type stuff. I can't find any facts.

Anyone seen this before? We have a well baby visit in 2 weeks so I was planning to ask then if they are still around...unless you guys think it IS serious..???

I have the ergo and I should have let them out sooner I think. I didn't realize I could have them out while using the infant insert. A month does seem a bit young to me, I decided it was safe if her legs could bend. As in, the knee was out of the side of carrier. I have no evidence to back up my opinion!

So I've been wearing my baby for the past month and he is now 10 weeks old. I had been wearing him in my Sleepy Wrap with legs splayed out since he was a month old, and today, it occurred to me that that might be bad for his spine/hips/legs! :( I feel so guilty!! So, just wondering, when did you let your LO's legs out in your carrier?

My legs used to bother me at night before I got pregnant. It somehow disappeared since. I noticed that re-hydrating them usually works. I basically ran the shower on them for a few minutes, then lathered with lotion.

When it was really bad, I'd apply Witch Hazel - it always worked. I'd stuck to Witch Hazel more often if it didn't take so long to rub on with the little cotton swabs.

@c.sassy: sorry if I'm being dense, but what's RLS?
Aha. Just googled it. Yeah it does seem similar enough, I never made the connection because DH's BIL has it and he's always twitching, morning noon and night, I never thought of it as something you could have sporadically. I'm going to try my moisturizer on it now, fingers crossed that fixes it for tonight!

Maybe it's a mild form of RLS? Apparently, RLS is something all women in my family are bound to get at one point or another (awesome), and I've noticed since being pregnant that I've had symptoms of it... and it's similar to what you are describing. My only relief has been to walk around for a little while.

@aunt pol: Lol, I used to work at an OB doing medical records and I was in the same room as the phone nurse so I always heard the conversations. Trust me... people asked much stupider (and weirder) questions than that!

The last week or so my legs are driving me nuts, every night around 8-9pm. I'll be 28 weeks Thursday. It's not itching, exactly- at least scratching is no use- but my legs are irritated and agitated every evening when I sit down. Sometimes body lotion helps, which led me to assume I was dehydrated, but sometimes the lotion makes no difference at all. I don't have swollen ankles or varicose veins or anything like that, thankfully.
Any ideas? Is this just a third trimester circulation thing? It's not a huge deal, but it is annoying- I went to bed at ten the other night and was tossing and turning for two hours- some rest that was!
