@NurseMommy: he's not having as many wet diapers as I would like but he is drinking a lot and does cry tears. He was a bit more playful this morning. Thankfully.

@Pepper: thanks! That's kind of a relief. It's so terrible when they're sick for so long!

@Alivoo01: he seemed a little perkier this morning. Thankfully.

@.twist.: C was definitely lethargic when he had norovirus. The virus lasted exactly 8 days for us. I hope it clears up soon, this is a lot for you all at once! :(

If he's still crawling and playing that's good. I'd be most concerned about dehydration. Is he still having lots of wet diapers? Can he still cry tears? Is his mouth moist or dry looking?

@Cole: yea, the doc that saw us said 7 - 8 days! Craziness! I guess his floppiness seems more like lethargy... They did not tell me any symptoms to watch out for as far as the virus, only what to watch out for as far as infection goes regarding the procedure he hard.

I have had noro virus and I have taken care of a toddler with it, it is miserable but floppiness wasn't an issue we had with the toddler. It was vomiting and diarrhea for about 24 hours straight followed by lethargy for another 24 but after that he was up and running again. It took me longer but I had a weakened immune system at the time.

Did your doctor give you any indication about what symptoms should be cause for alarm as opposed to typical symptoms? Depending on his age, floppiness might be one that I would call about if it hasn't already been brought to the doctor's attention. I hope he feels better soon!

ETA-- I just saw your clarification of floppy, limp is one I would totally expect. With the flu (influenza not a stomach bug) muscle soreness is a major symptom so I would expect a lot of limpness with that or something similar.

@Silva: haha yes, floppy is scary. I guess limp is more appropriate. He does still drink lots and crawls and walks and plays, but currently he'd much rather just be sitting on me.

When was the last time the doc saw you, or have you just been calling on the phone? Is he drinking regular liquids? Floppy is kind of a scary word, I think.
Do you mean tired or limp? Is he still doing any of the gross motor things he was doing before (crawling if he likes to crawl, walking if he likes to walk, sitting up, etc.)?

L picked up a virus while at the hospital on Thursday. I know quite a few of you have gone through viruses with your LO's and I just want to know what to expect. We have been to the hospital a couple of times because I have been so worried (yay, first time mom!).

L has been pretty floppy lately, like when I pick him up it feels like he's going to slip through my grasp. Is this normal? I know he's probably a little weak because he hasn't been eating great. Today was the first day he ate proper meals and they still weren't as big as his normal meals.

I'm just so sad for him... The doctor we talked to said it could last from 7 to 8 days, so we should only have a few more days left of this. But the floppiness is killing me.

I'm sorry I keep posting about this, but dr google sucks and I know there are other moms who's kids have had crazy viruses. (Noro virus?)

@.twist.: aw don't feel silly. Can you call your doctor and explain what's been going on and mention that you were told it was likely a virus and see what their advice is? I think ~4 days of diarrhea and occasional vomiting might make them want to bring him in even if they originally thought it was viral.

Trust your mother's intuition. You know your baby best <3

@Applesandbananas: No, I haven't been. But I might make DH pick some up on his way home.

I guess it's been ~4 days of this, but I was in emerg on Friday (the day it all started) and the doc said it was probably just a virus... so even though it's day 4 I almost feel silly going in again when it wasn't too long ago that I was told he very likely has a virus. haha

Awww poor guy! Diarrhea can linger in babies. C caught norovirus while we were in Florida. The vomiting stopped within 24 hours, but the diarrhea lasted about 7-8 days. I was told to stick to the BRAT diet, and to bring him in if he's not drinking. Hope he feels better soon!!

L had a minor procedure done at the hospital on Wednesday (May 15), and Friday he came down with a fever and diarrhea. I took him to emerg (because of the procedure) and he vomited on the way there and while waiting. The doc checked him out and said he seemed totally fine and that it was very possible he picked up a virus while at the hospital on Wednesday.

He has had diarrhea all day, every day since Friday and he threw up again today but doesn't have a fever.

I don't really know what to do next. He's been clingy and lethargic since Friday and the Diarrhea is driving me crazy. He's not eating like his normal self, but he is drinking a lot of fluids which is keeping me happy.

I guess I want to know at what point do I take him back in? how concerned about this should I be?
