@cheert16: I threw a storybook themed baby shower and made these Chicka Chicka Boom Boom cupcakes. Got the idea from this blog:

We did this theme for my twins' 1st birthday! We did Boom Chicka Pop and letter cookies to match the theme. If I'd had more time I would have cut out fruit and cheese with cookie cutters, but I ran out of patience for it, haha. We did a lot of decorating with alphabet magnets, which was cute. I'll dig up some pics!

I definitively won't be asking for life advice for my kids from Kardashians or Hilton's. I was thinking more along the lines of well respected Celebrities, ones we respect. If we got back any letters with advice that was contrary to our values, I wouldn't include them in the album.

I'm thinking Bill Cosby would be a good one. If Mr. Dress-up was still alive, he'd be getting a letter from me!

My husband would want advice from William Shatner, Shania Twain and Jim Parsons.

Oprah maybe?

I'm not sure when and if I'll start this project though. I have a lot to figure out.

My 6th grade language arts teacher had us write to celebrities, sports players, and politicians. I don't think the point was to ask for anything in return, but many of us got the standard signed photo and fan letter. One of our classmates got tickets to the Detroit Pistons game and was featured on the local news.

I never thought about people writing to celebrities in this day and age. Maybe I'll "Tweet" them for advice? :)

Also, maybe I am just naive, but don't most celebrities have nannies? I feel like most of them don't even raise their own kids, but have other people do it for them since they are always so busy and doing stuff. *THIS IS NOT A BASH ON PEOPLE THAT HAVE NANNIES!!!!!*

I'm not sure I would want my kids taking life advice from many celebrities and I don't want to create a celebrity obsession in them either. I would have to really do some research on the person to make sure they have similar values to ours.

I remember when I was in teachers college, hearing about a teacher who had her (his?) class write letters to celebrities asking for advice about life. I always liked this idea, but since I chose elementary school, I knew it wasn't something I'd do.

But now that I'm expecting, I wonder if I might use this for our baby, and every year write a few current big names, and some of our favourites, for advice about growing up, etc.

What do you think?

I think if I DO do this, I'll blog about it, sharing the letters with other parents and kids.

Would you be interested?
