Thanks for all the recommendations ladies! We had a great adventure and DD did very well. DH had to drive her around to get her to sleep but that was the first time ever actually! DH has already bought a bigger tent 🏕 with plans for even more camping adventures this Fall.

We took DS camping for the first time around q year old I believe. Tent camping, no electricity. He actually did amazing for sleep. We brought a sound machine with batteries and his pack and play fit in the tent along with our air mattress (we have a huge tent ha) We followed his schedule similar to at home and he slept quite well but woke super early with the birds and sun coming in. I think that’s the worst part of camping with little kids: it gets dark super late and sun up super early. We brought a beach blanket and lots of easy to eat food like pouches. Prep all your food before if you can so you don’t have to spend a ton of time cooking. Bring a lot of clothes and layers like mentioned earlier plus toques. Bug spray depending on where you are. Really depends on whether and type of campsite you’re going to.

I took DS camping by myself for only the second time this summer at 3.5 and I think for tent camping, one night is enough. For future, I think we will look into renting a trailer for longer camping so we have a little more structure and separate space from noise and light to maintain sleep. We went to bed at 10 because it was still bright out and ambient noise was high as people were cooking dinner late, and up before 6 and he was verrry cranky that morning which kinda took the fun out of it. He LOVED it so much though, so worth it

Yay! What’s the weather like where you are? Especially at night? My biggest advice is to bring so many layers and to avoid cotton if you can as it doesn’t wick moisture away from the body, is cold when wet and takes forever to dry. We use polyester long undies, fleece jammies and a fleece sleepsack with a wool hat and wool socks for sleeping. The sleepsack is one for toddlers that has leg holes. He never wears one at home but was fine wearing one camping. We told him it’s his sleeping bag. For daytime we use fleece pants and a poly shirt with a fleece sweatshirt and wool socks. My guy has a super hard time falling asleep while camping so I usually get him all ready for bed and then drive him around until he falls asleep and then transfer him into the tent. He usually passed out in less than 5 minutes. He slept between us one night on our double camp pad and it sucked. The next night, I put him on the inside and used a fleece blanket against the wall of the tent to protect him from condensation and I slept In the middle. It worked much better. No real need for toys - we brought a bucket, shovel and a few cars and he was in heaven. Let me know if you have any other questions or anything! We love camping!

DH and I love camping 🌲⛺️🌲 and haven’t been since having DD. She’s now 19mo and finally walking, so we are going for one test night tomorrow. Any tips for camping with young toddlers? Sleep is my biggest concern. DH is desperate for any reason to go to REI in the am if that helps. 💰💰💰
