It's the first episode I've seen and it went just about how I had heard it was... which for me is kinda sad. I didn't like the nurse that mocked the mom that didn't want the epi, and kinda wondered WHY she had to have pitocin if she was young, low risk, and managing on her own (they never gave a reason)... and my heart broke for the other couple and her family... it made me sad to see them all so ugly... I did think her doctor was still cool... but if she hadn't had the epi she could've been on all 4's or even squatting and that would've probably gotten rid of the shoulder problem in birthing her son. =/</p> <p>I guess after getting to know more about homebirths and talking with moms that had them and had natural births and midwives that have done LOTS of completely un-intervined births I just expect a different outlook and feel for birthing now. We're amazed at how it's so different from giving birth here in Japan. Everyone is so much relaxed and the staff is so less strict than here. I cried when that woman had a healthy baby too. I feel like you get a more realistic view of a family's childbirth experience because all of the cameras are 'hidden' (of course everyone knows about them) as opposed to a full-on camera crew (a la Baby Story, etc)</p> <p>I just teared up at an episode with a woman who had had two miscarriages and a stillbirth. When her little (4lb13oz!) healthy baby was born it was so sweet to watch!</p> <p>Definitely quells (or maybe exascerbates!) my baby fever a bit. </p>
