We had to because he was starting preschool. It was a fairly quick process -- after a few days, he was mostly accident-free. Not sure if that's because we waited, but I won't complain. Besides I was too exhausted with a newborn then. Now 1/2 year later, he began to show interest and communicated with us more, so we tried again 2 weeks ago and so far so good! Boys are a little slower in communication so we are okay delaying it a bit. </p> <p>We are hoping to have him trained by 3 years old but one of our friends didn't train till 4 but we have friends that trained at 2.5-3ish so we will see.</p> <p>I'm not to worried yet. But it was only recently, like in the past 2-3 months, that he's actually started communicating that he needs to poop. He's pretty good about it too. The only times he poops in his diaper are if we don't see him sign that he needs to go. He's day trained right now. We haven't pulled the trigger on night training since he drinks a ton before bed. The first week was tough, but it's gotten easier. I am not going to start until he shows a little more interest in it. I'm have no reason to rush at this point, and anyone who asks I tell them that and ask why is so important to them. We talk about the potty and underwear a lot and have the training seats and he picked out some underwear, so hopefully it will be an easier transition.</p> <p>My nephews started training at 2.5, and it was literally a shit storm, so I'm happy to wait.
