Check your lease. I've had some that have a clause about the renter being able to do/arrange for repair under a certain dollar amount and deduct the cost from rent.

I need advice.
We moved in to an apartment in June. When we signed the lease and took possession of the keys we did a walk thru. I thoroughly documented everything that was damaged or broken for our agreement. I also made a list of things that needed repaired.

I have asked several times for the repairs to be made. To date the only repairs made have been: sealing the shower, repairing the kitchen sink and garbage disposal, repairing the AC when it broke.

Fast forward to last night and my stove started to short out and nearly caused a fire while I was cooking dinner. So now I have no stove to use. The repair man insists it will be fixed today but I have heard that 100 times about everything else here that needs repaired.

What do I do? Is there any action I can take?
