@scg00387: Old Navy does not accept Maternity returns in-store. You must return by mail.

I am also 5'7" and used to wear an XS in tops...however, my boobs have grown a ton since being pregnant, so now while XS/S stuff fits my arms and shoulders, it's all waaay too short. I would suggest going for stuff that fits larger/longer than you think you'll need, because your belly will grow and take up space! I like the way gap S fits. Old Navy S is hit or miss. Motherhood S also seems to fit well.

I think that the Liz Lang Maternity for Target tops run small - I nornally wear a medium, but am more comfortable in a large with that brand.

Some of the Target xs stuff is pretty small. Also, I mostly wore non-maternity clothes in a larger size, as long as they were sort of long-ish tops.

I haven't ordered from them yet, but I think a lot of ASOS Maternity stuff should fit smaller than Old Navy and The Gap, etc. Since ASOS is kind of a younger, trendy line, I suspect their fit is smaller too.

I'm 33.5 weeks and I still mostly wear my non-maternity tops (I usually wear a small). So try looking for longer length stretchy non-maternity shirts! Most clothes have a lot stretch in them now, so you just have to make sure they are long enough to accommodate your growing belly and you should be good to go!

@tororojo I know Gap accepts returns in store from online orders - Old Navy does but maybe not for maternity? Kohls and Target do as well. I like ordering 2 sizes and returning which (or both) don't fit me in stores :) Retailmenot.com usually has a freeshipping & % off code + ebates so sometimes I even prefer doing that over in store!

@tororojo: I also haven't caved on buying maternity clothes online. I'm definitely used to being able to walk into a store and try on, and I"m not looking forward to just hoping a size works, or buying a lot and returning a lot. That said...I know there's so much more online for maternity clothes than in store, so I suspect I'll cave eventually.
Anyone know which maternity clothing places do free shipping both ways? :)

I went to Old Navy and they had almost nothing in store! I don't order clothes online because I never know what size to get...I will give Gap a try!

I'd suggest Gap as well they definitely have XS. I find Old Navy tops run big - I am not nearly as tiny as you, but have found that Gap "fits" the best. Target's smalls fit okay but the neckline feels really wide/low to me (and I have a sizeable chest & wider shoulders for my frame). Not sure if the XSs would be the same, but they have them! I end up wearing a tank top under everything because I hate bra straps to show - but I wish I'd just started with Gap and stuck with it :)

Have you tried Old Navy or Gap Maternity? I think Old Navy has a small section in each of their stores, but Gap are few and far between. I know Ann Taylor Loft also has a maternity line now...but most of it is online!

I'm having trouble finding t-shirt type maternity tops that fit. At Destination and Motherhood Maternity, the basic t-shirts that they make in a million different colors only go down to size small. I have freakishly tiny shoulders and no boobs, so even though I'm 5'7" I need an XS in maternity knit tops (which seem to run huge to me)! Anybody else have similar trouble, and if so, where do you buy maternity tops? I just want something basic and cheapish that I can buy in a bunch of colors and be done!
