It's terry on top of a thin plastic material, so you can't really tell you're on plastic once you have a fitted sheet covering it. I normally use 2 fitted sheets for normal changes, so I can't tell at all. One from the mattress store that warranties the mattress. It was pricey. And another from Kohls. Both absorb but Lo woke wet after her accidents. She didn't sleep for hours after. And we just pull it off and throw in the wash! I think it was 40 or 50$ for our twin size one. It's a Full size, if that matters. She is potty-trained and staying dry overnight and during naps, though I still try to put her in diapers for sleep. She is increasingly refusing to wear the diapers for sleep.</p> <p>I scored a really nice mattress pad cover for half price, but it only says "stain resistant" and repels spills. DH thinks it's not sufficient and we need a "waterproof" cover. From what I've heard, the waterproof are really not breathable and get hot/sweaty? What do you think? </p> <p>What do you have for your toddler and effectiveness? I'm not sure what company, but she says it's in CA. Are there any risks associated with wool mattress pads, compared to the regular ones at BRU? Allergy or SIDS risks? I'm not sure how thick it is. </p> <p>Also, I live in central TX, so it's warm 80% of the year. Would a wool pad be too hot?</p> <p>Thanks! </p>
