He gets one at preschool in the morning, but not at home. If he snacks, he doesn't eat meals, so I don't usually offer. If he is hungry, I do a small fruit snack. If you use a crockpot liner, you won't even have dirty dishes. There are plenty of "dump it in the crockpot" recipes that don't require any pre-cooking. Pinterest is a gold mine for those. Pasta doesn’t need that much water to cook. You can easily boil eggs, cook rice, etc all on a grill. You can also make scrambled eggs on a grill, just use low heat so they don’t get overcooked. You can make pizza on a grill (it’s really good done this way!)</p> <p>Just grill your veggies or steam them in the microwave (fair selection of frozen steamer veggies are available), hamburger (I’d also branch out and do stuff like chicken burgers, salmon or other fish burgers, etc.)</p> <p>You can also grill when it’s raining. We moved the table and chairs into the playroom and had one tall bookshelf as our "pantry" and the microwave. We hooked our refrigerator up in the hallway. We used paper plates and cups as much as possible and for the items we needed, like sippy cups and lunch containers, we washed in the bathroom sink. </p> <p>I would say learn how you use your grill (it's super easy once you know how to turn it on... plus you can absolutely grill in the rain or snow, we do it all the time!) and you can do very quick things like burgers or hot dogs any time. We did a lot of chicken nuggets and fish sticks in the microwave. And of course, a lot of takeout. Oh! Rice cooker for rice every night for sure. </p> <p>My parents came over and insisted on cooking (bulgogi) so they brought one of those little camping stoves and it worked great!! So out of a 4 week project, i think they only lost the stove for a couple days. We did eat out those days and fairly regularly due to the mess. The first time they redid the kitchen we had no appliances for weeks, so it depends on the contractors. I would ask and see how they can accommodate you.</p> <p>Then, i would focus on quick, easy things. Grilled cheese, pb&amp;j, mac &amp; cheese. My LO likes tortellini with parm cheese--super easy and i like it with sauce. We are gutting out the entire first floor, all the hardwood floors will come out, kitchen will be gone, a wall is coming down, entrance being restructured a bit, fireplace being moved...etc. It will last 10-12 weeks.... or more if we were unlucky. </p> <p>My LO is 3.5 years old. I usually just make him dinner every day. However, with this remodeling, I think we can only keep our microwave and toaster oven functional. We just recently bought a grill to put outside on the patio and I don't know how to operate it, and it dictates by weather. In fact, I don't even know where to set up our temporary "eating" area. We can do cereal, yogurt and fruits for breakfast, we are ordering lunch for him at school during the remodeling so that's fine, but I need ideas for dinner. </p> <p>For those who had experience remodeling your kitchen while your LO is/was young, what did you do about dinner?
