I bought one new set of tubing since it looked discolored and all new membranes. Otherwise, I just sterilized all of my old parts in boiling water

Thanks all!!! Just needed some other mama input! New tubes it is! Already had new membranes so good to go there. Will probably get new wipes too... Couldn't find an expiration date but I'd rather be safe.

I had 2 sets of tubing when I EPed with Dd1 ... When I hauled out my pump for DD2, one tubing looked questionable (cloudy) and the other looked brand new, so i chucked one and reused the other.

I have only used closed-system pumps so I didn't see any need to replace tubing, as others mentioned. I used an Ameda for baby #1 and I am now using the Spectra S2 with my old Ameda parts for baby#2. They are working great! I washed the parts and put in a microwave steam sterilizer bag before using for baby #2.

I'm 6 weeks PP with LO2 and finally getting around to pulling out my pump to start building a stash before going back to work.

Can I use the old tubing or should I get new ones? I last pumped in 2012/13 so it's 3 years old.

I also have some pump wipes (opened but a lot left) & quick clean bags... Are these ok to use?

Are there other parts I should replace?

Can I use the tubes for my Medela pump that I used last year? I know they can't be sterilized like the rest of the stuff, so should I toss them?
I am producing a lot, and baby girl is not eating all that I've got, and our pediatrician wants me to start pumping after feeding. I would like to use the tubes I have if I can.
I also have tubes from the hospital that are just a few days old that I can use, but I have to somehow get the adapter off. If that's what I should do, any suggestions for how to get it off?

@Mrs. Lion: I'm not sure exactly what they do with the old pumps (since they are giving new, hospital grade pumps to the Ronald McDonald House). I assume they reuse the parts they can and recycle the rest.

Agreed, a great cause!

Do you know if they refurbish them? I have one that still works but the motor is starting to wear out after a year of EPing...I would love to donate it!

ETA: I read the website. It looks like they don't actually give the actual pump to a new mom...they are providing hospital grade pumps to RMDH. I wonder what they do with the used ones...? Either way, it's a great cause!

Medela just launched a breast pump recycling program, "focused on helping moms who have finished their breastfeeding journey help another mom start hers."

Medela has committed to providing new, hospital grade pumps and accessories for Ronald McDonald houses. This will help Moms with babies in the NICU have one less thing to worry about.

http://www.medelabreastfeedingus.com/medela-recycles

For moms that are done pumping and aren't sure what to do with their pump, this is a great option. I will be recycling my pump as soon as I wean.
