We just moved to a new city (Chicago to STL) and I feel like my son is having a hard time. For the first two weeks, he stayed in Chicago with my husband while I started my new job. Now he's down here with me while my husband stays in Chicago to sell our condo and find a job in STL. So the poor kid has been confused as to why I wasn't there and now he's confused as to why dad's not there... We're staying with my parents right now until everything is more settled so he has a new bed, new room, new house, etc.

To top it off, he LOVED the daycare he was in - he always asks for his teacher and his friends there. We started him at a new daycare in STL, which has been really amazing so far. But today, he cried and was yelling for me as I left. Which nearly killed me. He did the same thing last night for my mom when I ran a quick errand to Walgreens - he cried the whole time I was gone and kept asking for me...

I'm not sure what I'm asking - just for someone to tell me it gets better and that we're not ruining his life by moving to a new place... maybe any advice or feedback on how long the sadness/separation anxiety can last?
