@cheert16: Ohh give it a shot and see if it makes a difference! The other thing that I had to change when my outputs got lower was to actually get the smaller breast shields. I at one point had to go up a size, then the ones that came with the pump and eventually needed the small ones. Medela sent me a free pair after I called and talked to them (I also have never seen the smaller ones in the stores).

@Smurfette: @shopaholic: Let me know! I actually would have never thought of it until my friend mentioned it to me. I did find it made a difference although I still didn't change them as often as she did (I think she changed her's about once a week or so!).

I've never changed mine and LO is almost 9 months. I pump 3x per day, 4 days a week and 1x per day 3 days a week. I have the freestyle. Are the membranes different for other medel pumps? Mine don't seem to be degrading at all.

@anbanan15: Interesting! I'm going to see if changing them makes a difference! We've lost a few down the drain, so I guess I have used new ones because we had to.

Never changed them, never needed to, until probably month 8 of EPing with second baby (and that's after using them for a long time with nursing/pumping with my first baby)!! Then they started to tear because other people were helping to wash my parts and would be rough in separating them from the yellow pieces.

I only change mine when they tear or if they feel very thin (like, floppy) which I think is a result of degradation from washing. It's funny, though -- I'll go months without replacing and then I'll need to replace all of them, like in rapid succession and more than once. Not sure if this happens to anyone else or if it's just my bad membrane luck.

Sometimes you can get better pumping outputs if you change them!!!

I changed them about once a month or so. If I noticed I wasn't expressing as much as usually a would change the membranes and most of the time I would get more after.

IDK you're supposed to replace them! I separate them every time I wash the parts. Never had one tear, and not sure about "thinning"? Why would they get thin?

Medela breast pump users: how often do you change the white membranes in your pump?

I have never changed mine and I have been using my pump for 3 months.... Is that normal?
