The rationale was a combination of time for folate supplementation &amp; levels to return to normal and ease of dating. I was treated for an EP but the first round of shots she put both shots in my arm, my arm swelled up with fluid and then my hormone levels kept rising. I had to go back for a 2nd round and that's when the new nurse said that they needed to do them in two locations. I ended up back in the ER the next day- my hormone level dropped but the EP started to burst and I lost my tube. I just feel like the initial shot was administered incorrectly and I went an additional week without enough medicine. I actually did my own shots (I'm an RN) since I was on vacation when the last beta result came through. I ended up doing 4 shots since what I could easily get on short notice were 1cc syringes. :( I did 2 in each ventrogluteal. </p> <p>Part of the reason they suggest multiple injection locations is possible improved absorption.
